ok, I was bored out of my mind at work today and I desided to change that annoying DO NOT DISCONNECT graphic on my iPod, so I replace it with the pontiac logo. I also replace the text on top part of the ipo where it just to say iPod

you can get refurb ipods straight from apple. No problems, and pretty cheap.

Yup, I heard on the grapvine (my gf, who told my mom to get me one), that I would be getting a 30gb Video iPod for Christmas (FINALLY!). ^.^

I'll need to see how to do that, I like that man :D

found a link: http://www.engadget.com/2004/12/08/how-to-hacking-the-ipod-firmware-changing-the-graphics/

but this way will cause you to loose all your data...damn, i'll try to see if i can find a way to do it without loosing all your date (cause i got like 20gb of music/videos already on it)

ill finish this one off... thanks for the link grand damn. Here is how you can change the graphics without restoring the data.

Click the link that Grand Damn posted, and then once done with all the instructions in the how to, do this

the ipods firmware can be updated without restoring the entire ipod, before running the updater follow these steps:

go on your ipod to ipod_control>device>sysinfo
and open the file in wordpad.
find this line of code:

buildID: 0x03028000 (3.0.2)
visibleBuildID: 0x03028000 (3.0.2)

Change a number with a lower number

buildID: 0x03018000 (3.0.1)
visibleBuildID: 0x03018000 (3.0.1)

Now the updater will think you have firmware version 3.0.1 and will let you update without restoring the entire thing.

this has been tested with 3g and 4g, the example above is 4g, the 3g uses different numbers but its virtually the some thing, just decrease the number. it should also work with other ipods but im not sure

(the ipod_control folder is a hidden folder)
