Now that im a sponsor, lets get this going:)

62 or 65mm billet TB complete with linkage, $250 each if we get 5+ people.

If there is any interest in the bare TB with plate (you modify yor own stock linkage, which I have direction for doing on the 60V6 site), I can sell the TBs bare for 220 at 5+.

Im not setting a time frame at the moment because I want to see what kind of response I get on these.

What is the application? I would use the 62s on 3100s and 65s on 3500 plenums. The 3400 can go either way really.

Will you want one complete or bare?

lvemy3100
11-09-2006, 07:54 PM
gonna want a complete one

it will be going on 3400 etiher a cammed N/A motor with some other 660store or a boost motor again with other 660store products

thinking 65 for boost or 62 for the cam

Vegeta
11-09-2006, 08:18 PM
The 65 worked great on a 3500 top end swap with stock 3400 bottom end (including cam). Didn't drive any different than stock other than better response and more power.

If you are using the 3500 plenum or top end (which would be a good idea), the 65mm is easily the best choice.

lvemy3100
11-09-2006, 08:23 PM
Well I guess its gonna be a 65mm on a cammed N/A motor... we will also be using the ported 3400 UIM/LIM and heads from your store.

thanks for the info and the chance to get a better deal on this TB

Def put me down for a complete 62. Just wanna keep my linkage cause I home ported/knife edged my stocker and could prolly sell it for a little bit.

lvemy3100

well I would have to say that its going to be a matter of how many more people jump in on this and how quick... even if it takes a month Im fine with it...

question, the 65mm can be place on a 3400 with out force induction? If the answer is yes I'm in on the group buy.

Vegeta
11-10-2006, 05:56 PM
Yes it can but you will need to port your plenum to match the 65mm opening.

Ben, I'll throw down for the fifth 65mm one. I need it complete with the linkage though (3400 LA1). Also sending you a PM on some other stuff.

11-11-2006, 12:58 PM
i might be in just give me a day or 2 to find some info b/c i might be starting engine mods and that looks like a good place to start.

Vegeta
11-11-2006, 04:52 PM
The linkage is the part you connect your cables to.

You will have to bypass your coolant lines to the TB, which is real easy if you can cut a hose and tighten up 2 hose clamps:)

The only thing you need to do on the complete units, is put your IAC and TPS on it, and bolt the cable bracket down.

Here are the dynomation simulations on a stock 3400 using a 62 and 65mm TB. These are the wave action models.

Peak is about 6hp more for the 62mm, 7hp for the 65. Since peak is about as worthless as telling people peak flow at peak lift, I would rather compare the entire powerband.

152/197 hp/tq average for stock 3400
160/204 hp/tq average with 62mm tb
163/206 hp/tq average with 65mm tb

Again, simulations, not real world dyno sessions with tuning.

Vegeta
11-12-2006, 10:29 PM
More than 5. Im going to setup the store to put the TB price "on sale" and we can deal with the group buy that way. Ill leave it at this pricing for 2 weeks. If you want a port matched 3400 plenum, I have 2 00+ and 1 99 here right now.

I also marked the TB adapters for using them on a 3500 plenum.

http://60degreev6.com/store/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=10

Ill add the Bare option on the store as well.

ihatemygrandamg
11-12-2006, 11:04 PM
already have a ported upper plenum, not sure of the opening size but I got it from you a while back. It was an older one and I picked it up for like $90

Now I just gotta get the right ported lim. I bought the threaded plug when I needed a push in, lol. We went through this on your site haha.

Just ordered me a 65. Thanks!

Vegeta
11-12-2006, 11:21 PM
Yeah, well i can still trade you the press in type. Just more work for you really:(

That upper doesn't have the TB opening ported for a larger TB yet. I can port another and trade you for the difference in price for porting that manifold since I ported the one you have now. Just let me know as I have to port one first to be able to do that.

ihatemygrandamg
11-12-2006, 11:30 PM
Would you want any extra money besides shipping costs to trade the lower manifolds? I was planning on getting the right one and doing it sometime anyways. Also my friend who is a toyota tech is having a garage built and has air tools and all so I could prolly have it done within a day or two.

And how much of a price difference would it be to do an upper manifold to match the tb? The one I have now has the runners ported. And if we did do this I would have to wait until I get that new one on until I can send you the ported one I have now. I just sold you my stock 99 3400 uim lol.

Vegeta
11-12-2006, 11:40 PM
I charge $50 to port the plenum for the TB. It makes a nice big mess with all the shavings flying around:) That and shipping would be it. Just as long as you send me the other one thats cool with me. Normally id do a core charge on it so I know ill get it back but we have done business before and I know you will send it. On the lower, you can send that back afterwards as well, and just cover the shipping and its an even trade.

ihatemygrandamg
11-12-2006, 11:52 PM
So its $50 and youll port match an uim to the tb, and the runners are ported also? Then I send you the ported uim I have now? If so thats cool with me, once I get a little more money Ill let you know and you can go ahead and do that; little short on cash as I just bought the your 65mm tb and Im buying stuff to bypass my a/c. Oh and Ill need a 99 uim just incase you didnt know.Ill also let you know when I send the ported lim out.

Thanks for trusting me, I gotta say you have the best customer service of any company Ive ever dealt with hands down. Let me know when you get that stock 99 uim ;)

And sorry if Ive confused you with all my questions or anything.

Vegeta
11-13-2006, 12:00 AM
Yes, ill trade you ported runners for ported runners since its my work, and its $50 to also have the TB matched.

Ill be using the manifold I bought off you so it better fit:) Ill also work on the lower this week so I can do a little at a time. Just let me know in advance of when you will need them to swap your manifolds out.

Your TB will be going out monday. Thanks!

ihatemygrandamg
11-13-2006, 12:11 AM
Okie dokie thats cool. Just to let you konw though the uim I bought off you doesnt have 3400 SFI stamped on it cause its from a minivan. Is that still ok?

If its ok with you, once I get the $50 to you, you can send out the new uim. Im not worried about the lim right away, and I can have my uim's changed within 20 mins. Id atleast rather have the uim and tb together, and worry about the lim once I get some bills paid lol.

Hopefully you will get the 3400 manifold on monday, seeing as today was sunday so they didnt deliver. Thanks again for all your help!

I ordered a 65mm. I had to wait a little longer cause I also got a new ported uim with the tb side opened up to 65mm. The ported uim I have now only has the runners ported.

Then comes tuning (again).

Hey Ben I got my 65mm and my new ported uim. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! That tb is gonna look soo good and flow much more, and having the 3400 on my manifold doesnt make my engine look soo plain anymore lol. Well anyways I should have them on tomorow, and the ported uim I have now should be out by mon or tues. Thanks again!

Vegeta
11-26-2006, 03:59 PM
I ordered another 99 UIM to stock, and it was supposed to be off a chevy venture but it also has 3400 on it. Minivans are supposed to be plain from what I was told.

Let me know how it runs after you get them swapped on there:)

ihatemygrandamg
11-26-2006, 09:19 PM
Got them on, and gotta say Im really impressed. Pulls a bit more throughout the entire rpm.

I have a question though, what about a gasket? Are you supposed to cut s stock sized gasket bigger? I just used gasket sealant for now as ghetto as that sounds lol

Vegeta
11-26-2006, 09:26 PM
Either way really. As long as its sealed, it doesn't matter what you use. I use a gasket that I cut out to 65mm but I have used silicone before as well with the exact same results.

Thats comparing ported plenum against ported and 65mm, so thats good that you can feel a little more pull going with the larger TB. Drivability should be just about the same as stock too:)

jberaue
11-27-2006, 12:02 AM
Hey Ben, how much longer is the sale good for? On the 60V6 store it said 11-27. Just wondering how long you are keeping them priced at $250. Thanks.

ihatemygrandamg
11-27-2006, 12:34 AM
One thing to note, after I put the tb in my throttle wouls stick at 1500rpms at idle, which I know you could prolly adjust with that little throttle position screw but mine stopped after a bit. Once it got some air going through it and all it stopped. Anyone who does this maybe try putting a tiny bit on grease or "lube lol" on the edges of the throttle plate if that would be safe for the engine. No idle issues or anything though and helps alot!

Vegeta
11-27-2006, 01:14 AM
Im not really sure what im going to do about the pricing yet. I got 5 orders right now so if I get 5 more in 2 weeks, ill just keep it going at 250 complete/220 bare.

If I get support from the community, I can support the community more.

As for the TB sticking, I set the throttle stop in a heated garage. Perhaps it needs a little more room? An 8mm long socket can be used to loosen it up. Then you just thread the middle stud in a little and tighten it back down.

Ive also heard that the cruise control cable keeps the throttle open. There should be an adjustment for that to correct for the length change if need be.

Vegeta
11-27-2006, 03:06 AM
I think we should drop the sticky though sometime today since this isn't really a group buy anymore:P Group buy is done. Now its on holiday sale (haha, it took me a bit but I came up with something).

ihatemygrandamg
11-27-2006, 03:17 AM
Haha thats a good slogan. Got any other "holiday sales" going on soon? lol

Just a thought ben but have you thought about designing a billet/poly engine/trans mount? I really like the tb and was just wondering if you had any plans for more parts.

Vegeta
11-27-2006, 04:41 AM
I need more parts, that is a given. I dunno what else I will drop some prices on. I really don't have a high price margin on anything, compared to what other places get/sell at.

Yes, I have talked to TCE about doing billet mounts and some other parts. Judging from my competitors pricing on billet parts, we should have no problem competing price wise. I have no idea on the quality comparison...other than TCE does some excellent work and would be hard to beat.

ihatemygrandamg
11-27-2006, 11:27 PM
What other parts have you got in mind? Im sure an ud pulley would sell ok, as I dont even think ffp really makes many at all anymore.

Im running out of things to do to my car without tearing down my engine completely lol. Even though Id love to get a new engine with heads, cam, and headers.

Vegeta
11-28-2006, 12:21 AM
Im not doing a pulley unless I can have the harmonic vibration damper in there (the thin rubber ring you see in the stocker).

I am working on 3500 porting right now,but I don't want to give too much away as I am not done with my research.

As far as getting new parts made, I am thinking that bushings and suspension parts would be a good place to work on for the N bodies.
