I'm looking to put brighter lights in both my GAGT and my wife's Honda. I was looking on e-bay and noticed that there are alot of Plasma Glow Xenon Headlights for sale. Has anyone ever used these. The price is alot better than the PIAA's.

I have also noticed that people are talking about melted/burnt wiring harness. Has this happened with the above mentioned lights? How about with the sylvania silver star lights?

Thanks in advance.

Most of the EBay specials can fry your harness because they are of a higher wattage than the stock bulbs, and actually those plasma glow aren't very bright usually. They dye the bulbs to get that color out of them. From experience they are only good for show, not very good vision. Those pictures they show on the website is not how they will look on your car. I have the sylvania superstars and they work great. PIAA's are expensive but are supposed to be good too. I have personally never seen them. Also there are faraheints (spelling) alot of people have them also. I have no complaints from sylvania and they cost 27 bucks. I think Pep Boys have them for even cheaper.

BTW yes there are people that have fried their harness. Not cheap to replace. If you are going to use the stock wiring harness I would suggest sticking with the suggested wattage.

Thanks for the info. My friend has the PIAA's in his GA and he tells me they burn out alot. I haven't seen his car so I can't tell you how bright they are. I think I'm going to go with the sylvania's silverstars.

With the money saved I'll go and get the Blazer fog/driving lights.

Have the sylvania's melted your wiring harness yet??

Thats typical with cars the have DRL. Since I do not have the overide kit, I decided to shy away from the PIAA's because of having to replace them. No the sylvanias have not melted my harness. They use the stock wattage, so you wont have a problem with that happening. I just put of a pic of the superstars and blazertechs. Its definately not uncommon to replace them every 10,000 miles or so, that what I hear at least.

Once again I appologize on the pic quality. I haven't figured out how to take stills at night.

The blazertechs are the definately the best lighting investment I have made. I could actually drive with them at night without my headlights. Of course I don't because I CANT turn my headlights off.

stock fogs are 33 i believe, around 50 might be getting a little hot. i would suggest saving money in the long run and buy blazer 3200's. they are the best thing i have ever bought!

Stock fog wattage is 27.5 for each lamp.

Upgrade to the Blazers and you get 55 watts per lamp.

Then, if you still want more light you can upgrade the Blazer H3 55w bulb to a H3 100w bulb. I picked up a pair of normal H3 100w bulbs from Auto Zone for like $3.99 each. Along with getting the Blazers, the 100w bulbs are the best lighting investment I've made to this day.

Have the sylvania's melted your wiring harness yet?? If they are burning out a lot, he is probably touching the bulb with his fingers...the oil on your hands gets onto the bulbs...the oil causes the glass (where the oil is) to heat up and stay hotter longer (as well as heats up hotter). This causes the glass to become more brittle, with more tendency to break. When you're spending 70+ bucks for a bulb, that's a lot of money to keep replacing.

A good idea is to take a qtip with rubbing alcohol, rub it all over the bulb to make sure there is nothing on the bulb. Let it dry, then put it in. Also make sure you don't touch the bulb, wear rubber gloves, or like I did, take a sandwhich bag (clear plastic) and used it as a glove, that way I could hold it and not worry about it touching my hand.

Just don't touch the bulb and you should extend the life a lot longer. My friend has had his PIAAs (not GA though) for almost 3 years now...so they will work for a long time.
