I Got no hits last time for this item and im tring to clean out my garage so here we go again, if you have any question please ask.
Turbo Setup consists of Intercooler, Down Piping, piping from intercooler to turbo and intake. (Hense u need a Turbo , BOV, Waste Gate, and a custom Y-Pipe from exhaust to turbo) This is Deek's old setup i bought it from him about 6 monthes ago.
(Cost Deek $1,500) Make an offer...
Also its for a 3400 V6:

how would one make a y pipe like that
an exhaust shop would do it for about $100-$200, its just taking your exsisting down pipes and reloctaing them

so the y-pipe gets installed after the headers? is this why a new exhaust manifold isnt needed?

I dont know how to explain, if you know how a turbo works u would understand, your just taking you exhaust and re-loctaing it to turn your turbo, hense why yu have turbo lag the higher rpm's the more exhaust u put out meaning the faster the turbo spools, so instead of new hearders you can take the exhaust from where ever you want tecnically.
Cant do $200 sorry man cost me to much.

i know how a tuebo works but dont turbo kits usually come with a set of headers which are made for the turbo setup.

^^
This setup uses the oem headers this is a custom turbo kit not a package deal that u can buy from greddy.

may i add that when this kit was installed on the car it ran a 13.9 untuned, on only 8psi, you will never get that with a supercharger, turbo is better for this car! i know someone must want to be turbo'd

How do you not agree the stock manifold was NOT made to hold any type of boost.
Not to mention its very restricted stock manifold set up. Using the stock manifold is an easy way out that will cutt horsepower. Even with a correct tune your car will still run like total crap.

haha bumps like crazy. Shoot I would also be al over this, as for any questions on turbos that will work, Deek had a t3/t4 hybrid if i remember correctly from talking to him. as for the stock exhaust mani, all that you may want to do to help out flow since you will have pretty much everything disconnected near them is port match them to the gaskets, or take a dremel and sand em out a little, not a lot don't go crazy, it should help with flow, sorta, idealy. haha

I know this is an OLD thread but the whole thread just made me laugh... how do you figure this stock manifold will be able to have good flow for a turbo.. explain please.

You need something like this...

Because you put the Y-pipe after all the tubes come together, after the collector. That way you get the most exhaust flow. Also, your second picture holds no value to this thread, as you need a pipe coming from the front of the engine for the front bank of exhaust, and that wouldn't work, hence why that first manifold has 4 inlets, when it's for a V6.

I don't want to rip you apart here or anything, but that first manifold came off of my 3400 grand am. The "inlet" you are talking about that is on the left side of the pic, is for the pipe that connects the front manifold to the rear manifold. They combine in the rear manifold, and then go down the downpipe. And the second pic might look better if you see this pic...
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/2681000-2681999/2681313_26_full.jpg
... but your right the second pic holds no value to this thread except that I made my own manifolds and Y pipe. ;)

Deek's setup worked really well. At the time we couldn't find any flanges for the 3.4l, to make nice manifolds, to go with our nice y-pipe, so using the stock manifolds was a good solution, that worked.
TREVTEC Just made a crossover pipe, blocked off the unnecessary bull****, slapped the turbo on there, whipped up some intercooler plumbing, did some tuning with what Deek had, and ran 14.1 first time out. Not too bad for a car that didn't have any tuning management software at the time.
Nowadays if the car was still around, Trevtec could've taken Deek's car really far, as long as we could've gotten a tranny to hold up.

sad part of all this is, there SHOULD be a y-pipe in this kit, just Deeko, was lame and sold his turbo with the y-pipe to someone who didn't need the y-pipe.

08-09-2007, 06:13 PM
I didn't think you'd make a manifold like that, and if I had seen the head on the engine it would've been better, since I couldn't tell if that was rear or front head. For all I know somebody tried making their own headers for a forward-facing V6.
