Hey all.... I have a DHP PCM and I am probally going to sell the car and I was wondering to know if I decide to get another GA, and I put in the factory ECM, do I need to do another security relearn???? Will there be any other things that I need to take in consideration before I swap them? Thanks in advance.

Unless you have your original PCM, then yes you will have to due a security relearn and CASE relearn.

Well, I have the [original] the one that I took out of the car sitting in a box in my garage.

It will go back in, no issues. Possibly a security relearn but no case learn

hey, what was the security relearn again? I know you have to wait a certain amount of minutes and do something with the key, but hell I don't remember that. Thanks.

Attempt to start the car, observe a no-start condition. Leave key in ON position for ~10 minutes or until security light stops flashing. When it stops flashing, turn key to OFF, wait at least 30 seconds, then attempt to start car again. Should start up

No, if he's switching pcm's he WILL have to do a CASE learn again, because the engine has been run and operated since that pcm was in the car so the crank shaft position is not the same as when it was taken out.

He is using the original PCM that came out of the car. It already has the correct CASE settings in it. So no he doesn't need a CASE learn.

Not what it says in the tuner guide. It says if the pcm has been replaced a case learn needs to be done. It doesn't differentiate between putting in a brand new pcm or putting the original back in. Again, if thats not right maybe they should change the guide so they aren't putting out inaccurate information to everyone.

Oh, ok.... Well, I didn't have to do a case learn when I put in the DHP one.

I take it your talking about page 58 in the guide. Considering I am sure everything on that page came out of a GM TSB, I feel confident in saying that it is assuming your using a PCM that has never been in the car before. But to back this up some I did a little searching here.

Read post #7. Considering who wrote it knows more about the PT than you or me, I doubt he would post something that he felt was wrong.

Sorry for the confusion blkgagt. But you don't need to do a CASE learn.

ok thanks, I am going out right now to do it. I will see how everything goes, but you think that I might have to do a security relearn?
