View Full Version : Hydraulic Floor Jack leaking?

I was about to change my oil, setting up the first jack stand, when my floor jack started leaking a significant quantity of fluid from right out of the piston. I didn't want to risk getting the car up and not being able to get it down again, so I let it down right away. It's a Craftsman 2 1/2 ton, and I've never used it beyond normal specs...any ideas?

happened before, I dont know if you can repair whatever seal that is, I'd take it back see if they warranty it. Had it happen to me on el cheapo jack I just threw it out

If you still have the owners manual I believe you will find a parts list with part numbers. I think you should replace the cylinder assembly.

If you take it back to Sears (I'm assuming that's where it's from since it's Craftsman) they will probably exchange it for you. Aren't Craftsman tools warrantied for life?

Yeah they are. Just take it back and exchange it

I am pretty sure ONLY hand tools are free lifetime replacement.

Probably just a cylinder seal

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner. Craftsman doesn't have a lifetime warranty on jacks, nor power tools.
