Just joined this here forum. Glad to see a Military section.

Hopefully I can get some good info on my car too!

Anyway,

I'm a PV2, Active Army.
MOS is 68WM6, which is a Medic and LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse).
Been in for about 9 months or so, and am still training. I graduate in July 2008.
I'm hoping to go on to get my Bachelors degree and earn a commission.

And that's about it.

Good luck getting into the Marines.
I thought about joining up with them, but they don't have Medics. Too bad, their uniforms are much cooler than ours.

Welcome. You'll be able to get alot of good info/help on how to get your ride straight. Ahh. you'll be done with training around the time I redeploy back home. After getting done w/ training, you should try and see about going "Green to Gold" if you are wanting a commission and finish your degree. The recruiter could have given you that option, but then again, they do try and fill the slots they need to for their sake of making quota.

And D.A. tried to make me a recruiter.. lol. Wasn't happening. I went over-weight just so I didn't go. Fockers.

09-03-2007, 02:05 AM
Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah, the Green to Gold option is something I was considering. I may be too old to get the full benefits of it, but it should still work. I'll just have to pay a bit out of pocket, no big deal. But I'm still looking at my options, so we'll see.

Ajaxus, man, I think that's a never-ending debate. It seems to be in the spotlight recently due to some allegations, which is a shame. Good to hear you're doing your homework though.

Im a 68W2O. Its a fun job but it does get very taxing.

Also just bc you got M6 dont think you will go straight to a hospital or clinic. Our newest medic in our unit is a M6 that just graduated a few months back.

09-03-2007, 10:47 AM
Yeah, they remind of us that almost constantly here. I don't mind being used as a Medic for a while. It is my job, afterall.
Now if they want me to be a Medic for the rest of my enlistment, then I'll have a problem.
But I'm ready to deploy as one if that's what they need. Actually, I think it would be a good opportunity to learn more about my actual MOS. Maybe it'll make me a better Nurse.
