View Full Version : VIN numbers
What are the common/easy to access locations for VIN numbers on an '03GT other than the windshield? Carfax is telling me that I just renewed my reg. somewhere in FL, I live in NJ

Stored in the PCM.. off the top of my head, other places are somewhere on the trans, somewhere else under the hood, can't remember, look around for stickers :)

I think there is usually one on the drivers side door or sill, near or on the same one as the tire pressure reccomendations etc, and i think there might be one on one of the front strut mounts..not sure about that on though

the trans has a derivative of the VIN
All engines and transmissions are stamped or laser etched with a partial Vehicle Identification Number (VIN ), which was derived from the complete VIN. A VIN derivative contains the following nine positions:
The primary (1) and optional (2) location of the VIN derivative for the 3400 LA1 engine is on the lower left front transaxle mounting surface. (first pic)
The primary location (1) of the Engine ID for the 3400 LA1 engine is on the top front of the engine block. The optional (2) location is on lower left front transaxle mounting surface.(second pic)
other 2 pics are how to decode them and the placement

Driver's side door/jamb is a definite place as its required by law.
