95 Grand Am, when the defrost runs, the floor floods. However when the AC runs in the summer it is fine. Any ideas?

Same happened to mine months ago, never gave it much though as it being the heater core, but makes sense since the leak was located beneath it. Although it hasnt happened since.

well on my 02 gagt i had a bad core, and i got lucky all the water ran out the tube for the condensation for the a/c coil, but mine doesnt have the valve to turn the water flow off for the heater core, it runs continuously, so my engine pumped all the water out. i guess on the older GA's that they have a valve and thats why it only happens sometimes, cuz the rest of the time it is closed.

does it make sense though that there would be no leaking when the rest of the heat is on, only the defroster? Just want to make sure before I undergo such a fun project as replacing the heater core

It's not that bad, my brother and I replaced the heater core on my mom's '94gagt.
Took a couple of hours and a $40 heater core from Autozone.
