View Full Version : Coolant Leaking

Well I started the car today and i noticed the low coolant light come on. So I checked to see if it was low and it sure was. I filled it back up and I looked under the car to see if it was leaking and sure enough it was dripping on the ground. So when i looked to see if i could find out where it was leaking, I could see it dripping under the engine right next to one of the coolant hoses but couldnt pin point it because theres so much crap blocking the way. Does anyone have an idea what it could be leaking from?
...and of course this has to happen when im talking about getting a new a car, she must of heard me and now is going to break down on me.

Could this be the dreaded LIM gasket leak? I'm in the process of getting ready to do this repair on my engine tomorrow and this weekend.

no, if its from the front of the car, it is a lower rad hose, if it is by the heater hoses that run into the firewall, then it is the heater core. the only way to stop it from leaking is to replace it or bypass it with a hose from one pipe to another then when you get time, replace the core, which is no small chore. takes alot of patience and good lighting, and a size 7 socket and a 5.5 also
and also, if yours is a 2.4, you dont have the lower inake problem that the v6 guys do...you dont even have a lower intake AFAIK...srry

looks like either the t stat housing, or a heater hose maybe, those are the only things that look like they are in that area, maybe just a bad hose or hose clamp
