Buddy of mine's gf drove a Mazda. Here are some pics after a drunk guy stole it. Dont know what he did with the car, but it appears shes going car shopping on monday.

It looks like he hit a gaurdrail and kept sliding on it. The wheel is pretty intresting, I thought the hub would rip off before the wheel broke at every spoke!

My freind Troys and his GF's name is Tracy. Just had an email with these pics, that said "Dude a drunk dude stole Tracy's car, check ths **** out. Wut should she get now?"

I called but got voice mail. Ya, the wheel confuses me too. Im guessing it was a guard rail, because there was no pics of the drivers side. Crazy though, that was a nice car.

Well I got the full story now. Looks like shes NOT getting a new car because that wasnt totaled.

That really sucked because i wanted to get a different car but whateve. Can't stay mad at something i can't change. Thought i chose my friends wisely but i guess not"

Perhaps the wheels hit a huge hole, the rim cracked and he continued to drive for a few feet until the rim shattered.

That's absurd that the car isn't totalled... taillight, headlamp, i'm sure some suspension tweaking, rear quarter, rear bumper, gas fill door, passenger door, headlamp, front fender, mirror, hood, paint prep, labor, something in the front brakes for sure, at least the rotor and pads, new wheels x2. There has to be over $5000 in damage there easily.

The car's still worth over 10k. Don't they total only if the car is unrepairable, or will cost more than the car's worth?

If the repairs cost more than 74% of the car's value, they'll total it. So if the car was worth 17grand, and they did 10grand of damage, it still wouldn't be totaled.

I bet they start to repair it and realize it's totalled. Happens all the time at Geico (where I work). Seems like way too much damage to repair.
