View Full Version : Bumper trim repair?
02-15-2007, 05:15 PM
This is more of a "body repair" concern than a technical concern. On my rear bumper the "trim piece" is bubbling out some. Anyone know how to fix it? Pic included so there's no confusion.

Its best just to replace the molding. The molding is like $20 and it comes with an adhesive back on it. Pull the old molding off then just remove the sticky tape from the backside of the new molding and press into place. You could re-glue the molding you have but its alot easier just to replace.

Where do I get the new molding? Dealer I presume?

dealer yes, the trim isnt even $20 when i paid for mine, also make sure you remove the old trim in the shade, and use an adhesive remover, then take a clean the area with denatured alcohol a few times, then put the new trim on, make sure to use good pressure to get all the bubbles out, and then let it cure before u do too much to it, like a car wash or anything harsh. itll work just fine

Well that'll be another reason to stop by the dealer...get the trim and get a center cap or at least see what the cap goes for while I'm getting the trim...

center cap for what?

For my stock rims. Made a thread about it last week or so. Center cap either fell off or was taken off one of my rims. Looks like crap without it.

damn, sorry, well if you need the silver(non chrome) style chrometech center cap, i got 2 good ones and 1 good rim, and 2 with bends on the inner lip

So while I was at the dealer ordering this trim piece I had the guy look up the cost for the chrometech center caps. They go for almost $70 new. Talk about a stealership! Ebay here I come

I appreciate the offer but don't worry about it right now. I already bid for one on ebay. So long as the thing is in as decent shape as the seller claims I'll be happy. I should've pestered you to check on the trim though...oh well.

well i have that piece laying in my room if you want it, ill let u have it for $5 plus shipping. its still brand new and i just never got to installing it, and now my bumper is broken on the back also so im getting new trim anyway, yah you should have asked alot...lol

Come to think of it I should've double checked this thread before placing the order...BUT I never did put any money down for it...Hmm...plus $5 + shipping is probably cheaper than $33...

it weighs nothing, so the shipping will be like a few bucks...and the backing is still on it, so all the adhesive is good still.
03-05-2007, 08:27 PM
Hmm yea...I think that I'll just conveniently "forget" about the one I ordered then and I'll take that one you got off your hands.

ok ill try to get it packaged and get u a shipping price, need address, pm me with it, and also itll be in a tube or a large square box just to make sure it doesnt bend or anything, and that the backing stays on it
