I read lots of different ways to get that rear deck from rattling. I finally had it yesterday when the rattle was just out of control. I went to 3 different places and bought anything and everything I thought I may possibly need. Dynamat Xtreme 38.99, Heat Gun 24.99, Laminate Roller 12.99, Superglue 1.99, and just for the hell of it I bought some Scotch Heavy Duty Mounting Tape(double sided tape) 1.97 in case I could find a use for it.

My car is now finished and the only thing I used was 3M of double sided tape. After I got the rear deck out I saw the problem areas and realized all that other stuff was just excessive. I put the tape around the edge of the 6x9 grills where it actually touches and outlines the speaker and around the back edge of the entire panel that is against the glass. Took the back off the tape and put it back in the car. The rattling was reduced by at least 85% and I had spent 2 dollars and about 30 minutes of my time. I feel like that is pretty amazing considering some people put in dynamat and say it is better but not fixed.

Also I do not have the loudest system in the world. It is a Rockford Fosgate 200.2 amp with the Rockford Fosgate P2 10" in a great Virtual Technology box. But that system hit 138.5db's on the mic when I first put it in a few months ago before the rattle started. So it is not a pushover. People always think I have 2 subs so I think this same fix will work for a lot of people with loud systems. Not sure about the two 12's with 1000 watts but hell it's worth a shot.

I usually use 1/2" or 1/4" closed cell foam weatherstripping. It only has adhesive on one side which makes it easier to take things back apart later. It's what I use for all rattles introduced by the interior panels. It'll take care of all your squeaks, clicks, and rattles. butyl deadener for metal, weatherstipping for plastic...

don't forget to put foam tape or whatever on that long, wide plastic piece between the seatback and the rear deck. the part that cups underneath into the trunk gives a lot of rattles. the other day i put foam tape along the width of it that hits the metal of the trunk side of the piece (the plastic piece rounds at each side) and my rattles reduced to about zero! i do have foam tape in other places as well, but this one got rid of the last of the rattles. hope this helps
