Carsales has been going well... paying off my credit cards, getting rid of my debts and etc. so Ive been looking into various things and...

One of the mechanics here, offered to sell me his:

1995 Honda Nighthawk
250cc
2600miles

$800?

I figure it would be a good "starter" bike to learn on, and drive it untill I can afford something nicer (im thinking GSXR600 or R6) and I figure for $800 why not?!

What do you guys think? Aside from the lameness of the bike, is it a good deal and starter bike?

If you don't buy it, I will.

2600 miles and only 800 bones? What have you got to lose?

Eh, I don't think it's a very good looking bike but for the price I say treat yourself.

Seth yes I do, but I pay "rent" (actually meaning I help out at home, they call it that to keep some pride, and I dont blame them) and Im budgeting a move into some luxury apts with me and two friends... OR ill stay at home and save the money I would be throwing at rent, havent decided yet.

Why does that matter?

I think they ask because Moving out should be the next stop... instead of more toys. I have that same problem.

< Take a look at the YZF600R for a starter rather than the R6. But it is best to spend as little as possible for your first bike since you will be dropping it and who knows what else. Not my choice, I have never really liked the honda's but for now if it's a good deal so go for it...unless you can hold out and see if something nicer comes along. I just don't like Honda's, never have, and I am a huge Yamaha fan so I would say go with another choice (like the YZF600R :)):angel

The YZF600R is a little expensive for a starter bike don't you think? Unless of course you are talking about a used one.

Good luck Jon... Used bikes are hard to find down here, so I was almost forced to get something new. Although I already put money to hold the 250R, I might get the 650R... Hit me up on AIM for sites with tons of info.

Again the moving out situation is in the works, I have it budgeted in, but right now Im at home to HELP OUT AT HOME. I make more money than my parents do, combined... so Im around to help out. Also, waiting for my friend (currently in a lease) to move out of his current place, and then he I and another buddy are renting a town home out in Dundee.

Like I said, the budget is there, the timing is not...
