First time hooking up the powertuner to the car everything went smooth except when it came to reading the PCM. The software stated, a warning message basically stating that the PT was not equipped to read this PCM. However, it would download it but that the bin file would be encrypted and I wouldnt be able to do anything with it?
I had bought the open 1999-2002 for 3.4L V6.
Any ideas?
Can I just use a stock bin from the forum here for a 1999 Grand Am and flash that to the PCM? Or should I download it and submit it?

send the .bin to DHP via a helpdesk ticket and request a stock file for your vehicle...
there are multiple .bin files per year and so I would suggest that you DO NOT flash the PCM with anything other than what DHP sends to you as it will be the most current GM updated file for your car with some changes made by DHP.... commonly refered to as a DHP 1.5 file....

okay, I already requested a 1.5 bin via a ticket, but did not send them the file from my pcm. I'll have to download that tonight and send it in.

Got it, my serial port must be fubar'd. Switched to Keyspan USB adapter and can now read and save bin. It is still listed as now supported though. So I need to get a 1.5 bin when the helpdesk gets back up and running.

Yea the 1.5 is a pretty huge difference over stock. Ive compared it to my SE stock bin and man seems pretty hot.

Then your going to be letdown when you upload that file. It's nothing more than a starter for people and really doesn't add much if any in performance.

I was just stating that there is some noticeable differences. Im not going to just load the file up and tune though. The tune is going to happen after the SC is going in so there will be a big performance increase.

Didn't mean to come off as nasty. Just giving you a heads up.
If your new to tuning I would start off while your N/A first. It'll make things so much easier after you get boost.

Trust me Id love to but my window to tune N/A is only going to be one day and that is this upcoming thurs and Im not sure if a newb like myself can do it in one day.

You can't in one day. It is a learning process.
