alright, i'm ****ed. the other day i noticed that there are still salt/water spots on the driver's side mirror even after the rest of the car was washed off. i wet my finger and try to remove one and it doesn't come off. i wash the mirror and try cleaner wax. it doesn't touch it. then i try meguiars step 1 cleaner and step 2 polish and that doesn't touch it. these are big thumb sized spots all over the plastic mirror. and the passenger side mirror is fine?? the spots seem subsurface meaning under the clearcoat since the surface feels perfectly smooth? has anyone had this happen on their silver gt? a search only gave me tsb Mirror Housing Turns Chalky/Dull #00-08-51-001, but that seems to be only for black gt's? will i be able to fall back on this tsb when i make the dealer cover this under warranty in the spring?

Mine has been doing that for a long time. It always goes away. Like white spots under the clear coat or something. I'm sure it looks worse on a black GT. That's probably another reason why GM uses the Alero mirrors now.

i've got these same spots. i've had them for a while, but like iceman said, they would go away. but now they are really noticeable.

i haven't had a chance to see our car clean in awhile (damn eastern pa winter), but a month or so after i posted the original and after a car wash, the spots/streaks went away! on their own! wierd. i hope that is the case once it stops snowing and i can wash the car again.
