Well, the 2000 Jeep Cherokee I was looking at has been sold since I couldn't sell my car in time. I decided that I'm just going to wait to get my settlement (if I get enough) and then buy a vehicle. I think then I'm just going to sell my car for like $3,500-$4,000 and then go on vacation for a week. I'm not really sure what sort of SUV that I want, but it's not going to be anything big. Does anyone have any advice on which car I should be interested in? Maybe a import SUV or any sort of domestic? I was looking at the Honda Passport. Any ideas?

toyota 4 runners are bad ass. My roomate had a 94 with 172,000 on it and it still ran like new. Bulletproof vehicles there. Even though i dont really like toyota the 4 runner forced me to like it. Other than that any jeep with the 4.0L. I had a 92 cherokee with the I6 in it. I miss that thing. If you cant tell i like older suvs with some off road ability and boxy looks. Just need big tires and a lift kit on em. New stuff id say a liberty with the diesel. Bad ass motor there. Im not really a fan of much of the newer stuff though. It seems the manufacturers are sacrificing a lot of functionality for a more minivan like feel. I guess thats what the general public wants, but personally, ewww.

Yeah, I really loved the Jeep that I had my eye on, but it sold pretty quick. I expected my car to go pretty quick around here, I've had dozens and dozens of people as me everything about the car except what kind of gas I put in it and not a freaking offer. But I still want the 2000 or 2001 Jeep Cherokee, but if I can't get one, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what other vehicles to look at.

like i said the 4 runners, even the new ones are lookers and reliable as hell. And a good offering for engine options as well. If i remeber properly there is an na v6 a supercharged v6 and a v8 available depending upon year. I could be getting confused with something else though on the supercharged one. Maybe that was a nissan xterra, nice vehicle as well.

I think you should check out a VUE Redline. 250 ponies under the hood in a completely plastic car. Oh yea and guess who makes the engine... honda. My dad has the regular vue with the same engine and Id say its about as fast as my car. Its a good mix of sporty and practical for a decent price.

+1 for VUE

Family has a 4-banger one with the CVT-its good on gas, can hold a lot inside, has AWD/decent ground clearance, and can turn pretty well.

I REALLY REALLY like the Nissan Murano, but it's a little too far out of my price range.

I'm very interested in the Mazda CX-7 4 banger Turbo, it has 5 more hp than the v-6 and gets I think like 5-7 mpg better gas mileage.

I didn't think about the Saturn Vue, I'm going to have to look into that one. I have seen a few around town and I think they are pretty nice. All my friends tell me to get Fords little SUV...the name slips my mind, I guess that shows you how interested I am in it lol. But if anyone has any other suggestions, feel free to post! I appreciate everyone's advice and responses.

And in reference to laxjax13, I don't have my stockers, but if I did I would sell you my chrome and clear's for cheap.

I would MUCH rather see someone on this forum get the headlights than some punk jackass that is just going to throw some blue bulbs in them and get the car impounded.

I'm not looking to go hardcore off roading, more of a multi-use SUV. It doesn't have to be 4x4.

Then check out the new Nissan Rogue that is coming out late this summer- it looks like a great crossover suv.

I'm really diggin the Nissan Rogue! I really like the interior and how the driver seat and surroundings look like a c0ckpit...that's what I really like about the GA. Maxed out it'll be $25,000...can't beat that. A 4 banger w/ 170hp, sounds like a good combo to me. But something is going to have to be done about that plastic front grill, to the right and left of the nissan symbol...maybe a custom billet grill? But thank you for giving me another SUV to REALLY consider.
