So i was supposed to get headers, 180 thermostat, cat-back, plugs and wires installed last weekend....then all of a sudden my car starts sputtering driving home late one night, i take it to my dad and he says head gasket or head is bad but hes leaning more to just the gasket. I spend a good chunk of last saturday tearing the heads off the car to replace the gaskets. So this far im thinking i just have to send the heads off to a machine shop to be pressure tested and what not but i just got the bad news, theres a crack in the rear head, front is fine. Looks like the cat-back will be put on hold for a while. So the headers will be put over two months since the date i actually (thanks to s&s taking the first month on there own). I know im just complaining but that sucks. Anymore horror stories anyone would like to share?

Pick up a 3500 top end and put that on since you already have everything apart. Blessing in disguise!:not_worth:not_worth:not_worth

oh how i wish i could afford all that, i take it you have it? just a guess with you having the 65mm tb, I looked at the local junkyard and they have a g6 with a 3500 in it, the motor looked fine but the back end was smashed pretty good, i should go see if its still there, now is the stock 3500 top end that much better then the 3400?

Does your car have a salvage title? I guess I lucked out with mine, my GA is a salvage, but there was no frame damage, all cosmetic and the 2 air bags deployed.

Yes. The stock 3500 heads and manifolds have better low lift flow numbers than most ported 3400 pieces. They are a better design, and certainly worth the time/money to swap in if you can afford it.

the rest of my car is doing great, just the head cracked so im gonna just replace it or save up a little more and see if i can get a 3500 top end, its in my uncles garage about 45 mins away with the motor in pieces, cant wait though cause i got the headers to still put on there, now i checked and was able to get a stock rear head for 350 but well see what a 3500 top end on a g6 goes for

A 3500 top end shouldnt cost you much more than a 3400 top end at a junkyard. You can use the 3400 head gaskets iirc but you HAVE to use the 3500 LIM gasket.
