cleaning tires

since i just got into detailing, i need to find a cheap alternative to wheel and tire cleaner......could i just use dish soap or car wash soap?

I use dawn or simple green for bad tires.

Once you get them clean just wash them once a week with car soap. If you wash them once a week you wont need anything more aggresive than car soap.
