i wasn't too sure where to put this, so i figured a radar detector fit into security somehow. with saving you money and all by maybe saving your ass from a cop clockin you on the side of the road. does anyone have one they really reccomend? i'm looking for something good, but not to really spend over $150.

I have a cobra, and its decent but remember, usually the more you spend the better it is. Your eyes are the best detector.

i've had cobra's and beltronics. cobra was a great value, saved my ass many many times, but the Bel's range is just nuts. but yeah, for $150 or less, you cant beat Cobra

can we get some models to look for or suggestions for what we look for in them?
I have a cobra and it works great and saved me a few times..if you want a cheaper one then go with cobra, i believe there top modle is opnly 200 or so. but just remember like said befor, the beltronics are more expensive but have a way greater range.

Here is a site about radar detectors. They are reviewed by a retired cop. I found a lot of good information on it.

i've been looknig for a new one too. I have a cobra that broke after about a week. The screen stopped lighting up, and it let me down hardcore at one point. I will never buy another cobra.

screen doesnt light up anymore, only at times very dimly, and it seems to be hit and miss with the radar it picks up.

kinda off topic but im jsut wondering, do you guys who live where radar detectros are illegal (canada, virginia, whereever) still have them/use them. And if you do, what do you do to try to hide them?

my bad, it was the rockey mountain radar
In its favor is its limited ticket guarantee, which promises to pay for tickets issued that do not exceed 15 miles per hour OR 30% over the posted speed limit, whichever is less.

After reading this thread I went to check out Vaneltines and Escorts site. Escort just came out with the Passport 9500i to top the 8500. GPS technology in a radar detector ftw. Completely out of your price range though at $449.

i have a cobra and it cost me around 120, it picks up 14 different bands of radar/laser, make sure you get both and you also want VG2 guard to protect against cops testing to see if you are using a radar detector
