well for soap coupe and i go for gold class, that one i know. soap there's only so many choices that get the job done, and gold class in a foam gun is hands down one of the TOP preferred choices for detailers.

as for waxes, that's a slippery slope. some waxes favor different colors or types of paint more than other waxes. it really comes down to what paint you have and what color it is and which waxes (and polishes, don't forget those) favor that specific paint.

:)

I think coupe's gonna say something along the lines of there is no "best." It's personal preference and what works best for you. Gold Class Wash and Meguiars NXT Wax is a favorite of mine.

ah ok, so wax and polish specified to that color would be the best results. duh. haha

I have not tried GC wash, have to one of these days. I currently am using Optimum Car Wash, smells nice, like bubble gum, seems to have good lubricity and cleaning power, only problem is it leaves streaks for me, usually because at the end my drying towel is a little damp, but that does not bother me much because after a wash I go over the whole car with ONR QD anyways.

i've been using the nxt gen carwash, but as far as soap i dont really notice a differance between one and another.
As far as wax, my favorite wax (believe me i've tried many many different waxes) is still nxt gen - its one of the most expensive otc waxes you can get, but still the best imo.

i like NXT car wash. i've used it sinse it came out. it gives me hella suds. and you cant really go wrong with Megs.

as far as just waxs, not polishs, goes, i like the shine Mothers Synthetic gives me. i was using Tech Wax for a long time, but it just wasnt givin me the shine i was looking for. so i tried the Mothers and got what seemed to be a deeper shine. however it does not seem to protect as long as the Tech Wax did.

all waxes will give you differnt results and some will last longer then others. i'm still not 100% happy with the shine, so i'm going to be buying P21s pretty soon. along with some Klasse (sp). hopefully that will give me the hella shine i'm looking for. however, my shine is still better then most.

Meguiars Deep Crystal car wash, paint cleaner, polish and wax. The first time I used the car wash I was hooked and that was without any polish or wax.

.. now everyone remember that this list is "not in preferred order"... lol

Very nice list though Coupe... a few products I have used in the past but even more that I havent so it looks like I need to get drunk again ;crap

*edit* to stay on topic here I would like to add that I have only used 3 washes in the past... Turtle wax "zip wash" (prob screwed up the name)... Armor All.. and Meg's GC ... of the 3 I prefer the GC

Funny part is that list is a small fraction of what i have. Those are just the products i seem to reach for the most.

I think by now we all kinda knew that... but since they seem to be your favs they must work well and I hate buying/using new stuff that just plain sux.. hense only using 3 types of car wash thus far...

side note- I hate Sonus compound.. didnt do anything for my paint (so it seems)

Thats just it though it dont matter what *I* like, what matters is what works for you. The only way to know that is try everything out there when your budget allows it.
Im not a fan either of the sonus compounds/polishes.

If you use the cleaner wax again it will only remove the wax that was left from your previous cleaner wax application, you will be defeating yourself.

This is what you should do IMO if working by hand, you wont regret it, just try it:
Claybar
cleaner wax of your choice
wax/sealant of your choice

Thats it.

BTW, your not removing your swirl marks, your only temperarily hiding them.

ok so for now is it ok to just leave it as is with just the cleaner wax or would it be better if i put a coat of meg's gold or mothers canauba over it?

next time i am def gonna clay it first ..i am just lazy and hate doing this **** lol

IMO i would just leave it.

Detailing and paint care isnt for everyone so dont feel bad for not having the patience, its what people like me are here for :)

BTW, i can claybar, cleaner wax and pure wax a grandam in under an hour, someone with less/no experiance should be able to do it in 4 hours no problem.

Yes that will be me on Friday, But it may take a little longer cause I am applying a polish too. I hope I get everything done in 5 hours max interior and exterior.
