Megs Chrome Wheel Cleaner

this weekend was the first time i was able to find time to clean my rims in the past 2 weeks. last weekend i washed the car, but didnt have time to do my normal rim detail. now most of you know how dirty my car gets just sitting at work, well add 2 weeks of brake dust to that. they were pretty bad. i've used this stuff before, but i think i was doing it wrong. what i used to do, was spray the car off first, then spray this stuff on wet rims. it never really impressed me. well this week i decided to try it on 4 dry rims. WOW! the break dust just washed away. i've never seen anything do that before. not even power sprayers washed the brake dust away that easily. i was just using a normal hose, no power sprayer. i was very impressed, and this saved me a lot more work with the power ball. later when i moved the car out of the driveway, you could tell what part of the rim was facing up, cause you could still see break dust on the lip where i didnt spray it.

Chrome cleaner gets a A+ from me. i still polished the rims after they dried, but even if i didnt, they still would have looked great.

Hahaha the problem was you where diluting it by spraying them on wet wheels.
This is why most people get mad when a product dont work for them and then bash the product as being junk. 9 times out of 10 its becuase the *user* was using it wrong.

lol yup i figured that out. it works really well now. i'm using it again this weekend. one thing i didnt mention is it stinks.

I could have told you it was great stuff!! That's what I use and it really makes a difference. A+ all the way!

I use that on everything shiny on my car. Takes thes off the wheels, cleans up the exhaust tips, and makes the grills look good as new!

i'm scared to death to get it on the paint. reason being it says to leave on the rims for NO MORE then 15 seconds. so if it can screw up chrome, god only knows what it could do with paint.

Im pretty sure thats just because it starts to dry and then its a pain to get off. But I too and afraid to get it on the paint. I just spray it on a rag then wipe down the exhaust tips and grill inserts.

Wont hurt it but it sure as hell would remove any protection you have.

I think its best to just not get it on the paint at all just like megs says lol

Most of my stuff I use is Megs, I didnt realize they made a Rim cleaner. Ill have to pick some up.

They make alot more products than you probably realize.
Go to their site and check it out, it will blow you away how much gear and products they make. All you see at your local auto stores is their consumer products which is only the tip of the iceberg.

Some companys do make a wheel cleaners for PA but i dont see the need. Actually i dont see the need to use a wheel cleaner on any wheels.

Yea picked some up today at pep boys....good stuff. And it doesnt smell that bad,smells like bad shaving cream

I've got a PB and aluminum polish, but I was just wondering if there was anything for the between times if I don't have time to hit it with the PB.

You shouldnt be polishing your rims that often anyways. Once you get them perfect just wash them once a week.

i polish every week, and get them perfect. nothing else seems to get them that way besides the PB. not even the Chrome cleaner this thread is talking about. i still need to detail them after i use it.

I dont really understand why you would need to do that weekly. Once you get them perfect with the PB all you gotta do is wash them once a week with carsoap.

i personally like to have my rims spotless. between the brake dust, concreate, and water spots, i gotta detail them every weekend. the chrome cleaner works great, but not that great. there is still that 10% of sh*t it misses.

Dude all you need is a clean towel and carsoap to clean them. As far as water spots just dry your rims when your done washing them.

I'd imagine you could seal chrome as well with wheel wax or something like Klasse. Makes cleaning them a lot easier. I got my wheels sealed and it looks like they are dirty but they rinse off mostly with just water.
