View Full Version : Need Help Raplacing Power Door Lock

I have a 98 Chevy Malibu. I was angry, and slammed the door very hard. The Power Door lock motor broke in half, it broke off from the rest of the plastic piece. I need to replace the unit. I tried moving stuff out of the way, But I dont see a way to get that entire window architecture out of the way to replace. Any ideas?

Since none of you rat bastards responded, Ill post on my findings.
After I ripped some stuff out, and broke some stuff, I got it figured out.
Take off the door panel, peal back the plastic, undo the a nut and a bolt on the left on the black framing to give you some room to push it out.
Undo the 3 bolts on the latch with a torx bit.
Undo the 2 electrical connectors to the power door lock
4 Rods connect to the unit. The first two facing the door have clips you need to undo.
The other two dont disconnect at the unit, they disconnect at the door handle. Pop out the door handle, slide the handle off the hooks.
Pull down the Power door lock unit.
Pop out the electircal loom connection in your way.
Undo the rods.
Now pop in new unit.
Explanation is hard without pictures. But if you're doing it, it will make sense.
Grand Am may differ from the Malibu.
