well i just put the pedal to the floor for the first time with my recent addition of 180 thermostat, headers, p&p heads, cat back, plugs/wires, and all i got to say is....damn.... i had my doubts at first but not anymore :D , it feels like a whole new car. My mother use to have a 97 GTP and i use to drive that a lot. It now seems like I'm driving that car again. I know it's not the same but my butt dyno is happy. I'm sure some of you could share some stories to of additions that just made you grin....please do

Well, not power related but I just a complete brake overhaul today on my '97 GP and thats making me grin. The old pads and rotors were shot and the fluid was green, and they had very bad pulsation. Installed new brembo oem replacement rotors, hawk ceramic performance pads, goodridge stainless steel braided lines, and flushed the system with valvoline synthetic dot4 fluid. They stop better than new now. Quiet and smooth, and I barely have to press the pedal to come to a stop. :)
I understand about the difference with the power adders though. I had several big jumps like that with the GA. The feeling wears off after a while, but the power is always there.

next on the list is the tune and some window tint, it would be nice to have the kinda cash for forced induction cause that would be another new faster car grinning experience, but im happy with what i got now
a friend of mine with a srt-4 just got alcohol injection and it provided him a nice boost and hes was running roughly 350hp i think to the wheels allready....ahh the posabilities....looks like its time to do some more research and find some other nice power adders
My buddies got an srt-4 as well. He has methanol injection on his, his dyno'd at just over 360 HP they are pretty quick cars.

I got this nice feeling the first day I drove my Grand Am. It is entirely stock, but I was used to a pitifully slow 2.2 auto Chevrolet Beretta, and the 3400 GAGT felt like the General Lee.

with those mods, you'd have even better results if you get it tuned. Contact Mark from MP Racing, (lvemy3100) he lives up in Antioch IL, I know you're kinda far, but maybe he can meet you. He'll retune you're temp setting for the fan turn on to match you're 180* stat and redo the shift points on your trans and since you got headers and P&P heads, adjust fuel trims to compensate the better flow for more power.
He tuned mine, and my car has more power and i"m still getting about 20-22 mpg city, if I really lay on in around 18mpg. (with current gas prices, that's something to consider)

ya i planned on getting the tune next pay check, i was thinking the generic tune, but im sure it would be better to have him do it in person, i dunno, its a long drive from here but nothing i wouldn't consider. a few more things i plan on are the 65mm tb and p&p uim, i don't really want to do boost or juice, i thought about alcohol injection but read of a lot of tuning problems with the ga, i think though once i get that done ill still want more power but you gotta pay to go fast and i just cant do a lot of the paying part :) , but i am still happy with what i got
edit: my car before this was a pos 1993 toyota tercel, 1.5L of pure muscle, it had bent valves and smoked bad, 84 or so hp stock, no mods, i thought there was a legal limit on how slow they could make cars but i guess not....:(, so i know how ya feel tyson

On my grand am I loved my mms pcm, that realy made me smile for only a $150 mod. First drove it, shifted into second at 6k and chirped the tires; then when I shut it off I heard my fans still going haha. Im not even gona say anything about the removal of the speedlimiter ;)
Im sure Ill have an even better felling with juice and a sc on my new car :)

01 z24. I know I know its a cavalier. I loved my grand am but this has much more potential and has a much better aftermarket.
Other plans include a .20 overbore, wiseco pistons, eagle rods, ported head, secret cams. Also eventually after I get my gm m45 kit, Ill be going with a 2.7 pulley, alky injection, and hptuners. One thing Im glad about is with the 2.4 sc kit is that the gm reflash doesnt get locked like with the ecotec.

You'll love it. Nothing like that loud roar of the engine or the whistle with one installed. I can't help but just make it whistle sometimes. Where did you get your's from?
Bryan

lol Yeah I've been makin' it whistle quite a bit. When you're at the RPM range where it's about to roar you can't help but tap down a little harder.
I actually got it from a member on here (highwayprowlerz) who made it herself.
