i have procarparts . pcp . altenzza generation II reat tailights in the gunmetal. about second summer on car . car sees about 1000 klms per year . stored heated storage during winter.
i go to steps to makesure no one goes near or touches the tails. i gentley wax them once or twice a summer out side lense. they look as good as new , outside clear lence beautiful shine. not even any fine scratches .
YET i get my car out of storage today and notice on the inside of both lights identical cracking at both the top and bottom of the inside backing. it is found just ahead of that little almost heart shape side reflector and flows from the flat of the backing and upward along the curves of the gunmetal back.
i never over tighten them etc i even worn surgical gloves when i installed them. just snuged up. i just can not believe what i found . aspecially how new they look.. would another pair do the same ???? why not crack in the first summer ???
i most like do not have any warranty and likely will not get any help with my now expensive problem. I HOPE and am crossing my fingers . depressing and very upseting to say it gentley:crying: :( :hang:  :wtf
i suggest you guys take a closer look at yours .

those tails are of the poorest quality of any option out there for our cars..you get what you pay for :(
the sad part, my bro bought a pair..i guess he'll learn when the same happens to him.
invest in some tyc's next time around, they're much more solid and much higher quality than the pcp's.
oh yah, this thread..in the wrong section.

You should pretty much expect any aftermarket part to fail prematurely, they just aren't made to the standard that the OEM parts are.

this isn't always true. some aftermarket parts last just as long as if not longer than OEM parts. you just have to be wary about who manufactures them and what their track record is for quality work.

it's true some aftermarket parts are btter then factory. who would know i would find this problem , other then someone esle with the problem that does not know it yet or has not looked close enough at there tails. or the sellers or manufactures who know of the problem but do not disclose much about it etc etc.
i am very likely going to be left high and dry on these things . i emailed pcp . but do i exspect to hear from them ??? will they do anything for me ??? is there some kind of warranty ??? will it happen again with a nother pair ???
i took anal like care of these things too. love to show them off . got a ton of compliments on them . recommended them to others , even while the car was stored away. should i feel stupid or bad about doing them. hope not.
i still want to get those blk/chromed headlights with clear reflector. what quality problems would i find with them. and i have to find someone still selling them. i see the blk/chromed with amber reflectors on ebay.

Many, including myself, have had little spiderweb type cracks in our aftermarket headlights. They haven't developed into anything major with any of us though.
IMO just ditch those tails.

great so the nice blk/chrome headlights with clear reflectors have problem also. do any of these manufactures do any testing first. spyder cracking on the outside lense or some part of the blk or chromed part of the back inside the lights. is it found on the all chrome ones with clear reflectors also. like to see and hear more about this problem. been away from this website for serveral months.

I have the chrome on chrome with the clear reflector and I have the spider web cracks too...so it's not just an isolated thing. I really don't care about the cracks because hopefully I'll be getting me something different/new soon anyway.
