View Full Version : Popping Noise in Rear

Alright, this ones been bugging me lately. Everytime I accelerate from a stop, make a turn (either direction) or go slowly over a speed bump I hear a distinct "pop" coming from the rear of my car.
My first instinct would be the suspension, but I'm not sure what to look for. All help appreciated. :)
Oh, and if it helps, the ride quality hasn't changed at all.

soudns like a rear strut is popping. go out to your trunk lid and press down on it hard a few times. see if it makes the same noise. if so, my bet is a strut. and i bet ride quality has changed, you just havent noticed, cause it does so slowly.

hm, didn't hear it when i did that, i also pushed down on each side individually and still nothing.
guess it doesn't count it out necessarily.

Try rocking the car back and forth. Its how I found out that my driver side strut was going bad. It made a horrible groan/pop when I did it like that. You kind of have to rock it hard.

looks like we may have a winner. i have a friend that works at Discount Tire which is an affordable version of TireRack..I'm gonna have him take a crack at it when he gets off of work to see if we can figure out which strut it is.
