View Full Version : Spoiler Paint Cracks/Scratches?

My spoiler is completely covered in what looks to be scratches. Even on the underside they're there. My mom's b/f said the paint may be sort of spider-cracking up. These blemishes look fairly deep yet you can't catch your fingernail on them one bit.
I've polished with the PC using the most abrasive polish/pad set up I have nuumerous times and got nothing. On other panels I was able to remove blemishes that seemed just as bad doing the same routine so I know I should have gotten a little something off with the spoiler..but nope.

I'll try to get a pic later.

Could this really be 'spider-cracking' in the paint?

Well waxing wont fix it lol

I too have the same exact problem, or at least i assume i do.

Can you get pics of the damage? It would help me to help you if i can see what your talking about.

On my spoiler i tried everything just short of wetsanding, i dont think there is much clear coat left and am nervous to try wetsanding when my instincts tell me there isnt much CC left. Im waiting (desperately hoping) that the SCT concept spoiler gets produced.

why not just get an RK sport spoiler, or another OEM one?

Yeah it feels pretty dull which leads me to believe the CC is almost gone. I'll get some pics in a few hours. I hope that spoiler gets produced though.

I'm trying to get my hands on an SC/T spoiler but in the mean time I'd much rather correct mine insteading of buying a new one.

for some reason imperfections in teh spoiler seems sooo much harder to fix than anywhere else.

yea, i totally agree with that ^^^

even when washing my car i get water spots on my spoiler and they are sooo much harder to get out than anywhere else on the car

Did you get them all off for the most part?

there is still some swirlage that i couldnt get completely off. It looks ok, but if i put time into it im sure i could make it better. Same thing with my trunk, the swirls were super hard to get out. I'm starting to think that my car was in an undocumented accident in the rear, because my paint back there acts completely different than the paint on the rest of my car.

Same problem with my spoiler. It looks like the paint is just cracking everywhere. It sucks, cause I can get the rest of the car to shine with a deep gloss, but then the spoiler is dull and cracked...although the paint feels the same.

Took some pics but nothing came out on the camera. Coupe I challenge you to wetsand it. :)

weird. I have this same exact problem. I might actually wetsand it because I doubt it could look any worse!

RK sport would look dumb and i dont buy OEM parts to mod my car with.

I doubt your CC is almost gone. Im sure you havent hit your spoiler as hard as i did.

Eh, it would be risky.
