I am buying a black 30th soon and I have an *** kit on the way....will you guys flame me if I put this muffler in the center slot of the *** kit? I think it would look cool centered........but i guess it is still a fart can......I was going to just straight pipe it but this would sound good and still have little/no backpressure...and look good! I like the burnt tip look of the second one....but a CF muffler is gay and out of the question....I'm looking for a cross between the 2 below.....(of coarse I would remove that stupid silencer)....Let me know.

That wouldnt look to bad. But get some SMALLER tips. Those things are huge.

Put 2 dual borla tips on there for 4 total. Now THAT would be "different" for sure. (dumb idea).

Get a couple 3" tips but i wouldnt go bigger.. thats just me tho.

Yeah....That would lookk the best...but the problem is that 4 tips (of any size) wont fit in the center of the *** rear....

I like the looks... not sure of how that's gonna sound tho.

I can't imagine that our engine could ever sound ricey.....I mean with our limited RPM range and normal deep sound already....plus it has a 2.5" straight through--- just some steel wool or whatever packing the inside of the muffler....I' think I'm gonna get one.

you could fit a set of 2 double borla tips in there, and kinda give it the C5 look. It would be different, dunno if thats good or bad, but it would be interesting to see the plumbing to make it fit.

something like this

That was my original plan....I was going to straight pipe it and add 1 set of nice tips in the center....but I came across these and started thinking that this size muffler/tip would fit perfectly in ***'s center spot......I donno:confused: still undecided.....

either way it is going to have a straight pipe sound IMO

NIce tips Guru.

Have the muffler shop custom fab something like that.

If they were small enough they should fit in the *** rear.. Would take custom work though yes.

custom exhaust work is cool...custom body work to get them to fit....no-can-do...You would be suprised how small the center section is on an *** rear. my guess....less than 12 inches....it would be impossible to fit 2 sets of duals...

....but the cool thing is that our pipe comes back from the Cat centered.....so all i need to do to fit the ones I posted (or 1 set of tips) on would be to just hack off the muffler.....add a foot of pipe and weld that sucker on....pretty simple install....

You have 11"s in the center of the *** Kit, figuring with that, the biggest tips you could get (x4) would be 2.5" :)

PACE
12-31-2002, 09:58 AM
yeah.....thats not gonna work....2.5" tips are small considering the pipe coming back there is 2.5......that would be like 4 little pea shooters......They would all have to be touching too...that would be gay....I'm still undecided

What if I went like this-

2 over 2....... .....naw

I didn't think so either, but there's a guy who lives near me with a GAGT like mine with a 6" (I think) tip that sounds almost like a Civic.

wtf <--- look on my face after seeing/hearing that for the first time

Yeah, the Civic mufflers are just awful... I wouldn't put them on the car, it will sound like crap. I would consider magnaflows, or flow masters - but I don't know if they would fit. You could always mount the muffler and then route the tips...

A small flow master muff, and then lead pipes out of it to tips in the body work. I think that two tips, sculpted to the *** rear bumper housing would look the best. Kind of like that Corsa exhuast for the C5. First of all here is how the 4 Borla tips would look...

(A really tight fit that may or may not burn the bodywork/fascia?)

Why don't you just take the easy way out? Have custom work like mine done (so it comes down the center and not over the rear susp) and have a single Magneflow (3" or 3.5") mounted in the center. It would give you two very nice chrome tips. As long as they were long enough. I would need to see a straight-on shot of the rear body kit.

you could alwasy just remove the center piece of the rear defuser all together. And do it this way.

Team-*** whose car is that. What muffler and all that good stuff. Are there any pics of the underside of that car. I am really curious to see how it was done. That is exactly what i want to do. Just with different tips.

Later,

You're getting really excited...hehe...so am I!

yeah you would definitely have to cut it out to fit any (decent) size tips in there, I actually like it cut out like that, just get it sanded and painted...no one would know! hehe

All I know about that car is that the owner lives in Florida and in the armed service. He is over seas right now and his brother is showing the car for him while he is gone. However, if you want contact *** and maybe they can get you in contact with the owner so you may get mroe info.

I thought all GA's and Aleros exhaust came from the cat over the left side of the cross member? At least thats where mine is.
