I know this has been discussed before but...
Problem: Ignition cylinder will not turn.

Get new ignition switch and lock cylinder, recode cylinder to new key cut to VIN. Remove old components by nasty amounts of force and drilling. (Its easiest to drill the ignition switch case near the passlock sensor retaining tab). Install new components and program Passlock system.
Or call a dealership, get a key cut to the VIN and pray. Locksmiths won't do the trick.
This isn't really something I'd reccomend anyone do unless they have a thorough understanding of how all the ignition switch and passlock sensor components are assembled. Basically, don't do it. Take it to a shop of some sort.
Oh, and I know a mod will clamp this thread saying you should have used a more specific title.... they'd be right. But there's your answer.

No really blatant cause.
If I had to point fingers, I'd say a combination of heat, heavy keychains, normal use and blind luck.... in short, NAFTA.
In other words there's no way to prevent this from happening. Just replace the bad parts with OEM components and they should last you.
