i just picked up a 00 grand am and it shifts funny, i kno the fella i bought it off and it did this before so he brought it to the garage and it was the shift solinide, and she is doing the same thing again now so im assumiming its gone again, can someone tell me were this is located and how hard it is to put on. what the car does is when it gets warm it shifts hard into each gear.

That's not the solenoid. Do you have a SES light on?

yeah the service engine soon light is on

Then have the code read first. If it affects the TPS, IAT or MAF sensors then that is causing your shifting problem. The PCM uses those sensors to calculate engine load. When it can't do that it puts the transmission into a kind of safe mode, meaning full line pressure shifts. It's not a good thing so get it looked at pretty soon.

never got to get it looked at yet but when i had the bonet up today i noticed the plug in for the intake hose was un pluged i pluged it back in anyways i was wondaring would this be a reason why it is shifting like this? i never got to use thecar sence so im jsut wondaring

got time to take it for a spin drove around for bout a half hour and it is now shifting properly so i guess this got some effect now my nxt question is how do i get the ses light off tis still on?

It should reset the light automatically after 3-4 starts, if everything is right.
