Hi all,

I have a weird problem with my shifter.
Well, I have a 5-speed GA.
In order to take the jey out of the ignition, the car has to be in reserse. With the key out, the shifter is locked in that position until a key is inserted to the ignition and turned to the ON position.

My car has randomly decided to stop doing this.
It worked perfectly until yesterday afternoon, when suddenly it took a bit of effort to get into reverse, and now I can remove they key without the car being in reverse, as well as shift while the car is stopped and no key in the ignition.

Not major, I know, but annoying. It's a security feature I like, and it no longer works.

The shifter I put in mine was used and worn pretty badly. There is a metal arm, that when in reverse, pulls the ignition lock cable. Mine was not operating after the install so I defeated the whole thing. It works fine but no reverse lockout. You will need to replace the broken/worn parts if you want that feature. Shouldn't be too bad a job. Good luck.
