I recently joined and am looking around the site. I have run across some things that I am not sure of but think I figured it out: In the title line of some threads there is a note in parentheses (56K- no) or (56K-maybe) I am assuming this means that with a 56K modem it may not load or will take a long time?
Sorry if this is posted somewhere but I tried a search and got nothing but I may not have worded it correctly.

Its just a joke because that thread probably contains many big pictures and will take 56k like 6 years to load them, welcome to the site

i didnt know people still had 56K. Why would you ever have that when you can get dsl for like $15 a month.

How much do you pay for dial up lol.

It is just the cost of the phone plus basic ISP so phone plus $14.95. I can tack it onto my cable but then it is a bundle so have to change phone, cable service etc. Adding DSL thru my cable would cost another $150 month. I have had no income for over a year so that is out.

Some areas of the US are not able to get DSL or cable yet. aka Louisiana and BFE.
