I have two cans of Mothers mag and aluminum polish that have been sitting for about a year. Both are about the same age. One is a complete liquid inside while the other is like a cream paste. What happened to make the difference in them? Someone tell me what I did wrong. Seems to me they were a paste wax consistency before.

Temperature changes often cause chemicals to separate. That would be my first guess, was one stored inside and the other outside during the year? (Winter especially)

Both were in the house but in different rooms.

I just waxed my wheels with the new stuff from turtle wax called ICE, and damn it worked really well!

The Alero has painted rims, and the Delta polished, and both came out like they were new. In fact it rained and the water beaded on the rims like it does on the car :angel

My Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish sometimes turns to liquid around the top if left outside for a bit on a warm day but it always returns to the original product after bringing it inside.
How humid does the room get for the one that's liquid?

The whole house is air conditioned, one floor, so the humidity can't vary much I wouldn't think. The one jar is complete liquid, not just separated.

hm, well if it wasn't temperature or humidity, the only other thing i see it being is the one that is liquid came into contact at some point with another chemical and the two reacted. that's about all else i can see at this point.

Thanks, I was totally confused about this. I have compounds stored all over this house and just never saw this reaction before. I see some separation every now and then but not this. Thought i would ask here.
Thanks again for the help.
