Im glad Im covered by warranty.. I am actually hoping mine goes now while im still covered for another 20kms. I feel your pain though.
if mine were to happen a first time...id fix it..but a second time..id send it back to a dealer and get something else..something cheeper and bide my time till i have enough dough for a nice newer car. just my opinion
good luck though.

If it's fixed right the first time with the right parts it shouldn't ever be a problem again unless you have somehow damaged the mating surfaces on the heads/LIM. I replaced my LIM gaskets once just to have to new version to be safe, but I've never had a single leak on my engine.

Yur absolutely right.... but for those of us that only have 6" of clearance and can get 5'+ of snow over the winter it's in my best interest. And it's not that I don't trust my winter driving skills, it's the fact that there are way to many people in this city that drive like retards and I'd rather not have my insurance prems. go up.

How many miles before those gaskets went out? My '99 3400 is still going on it's original, but it only has like 40,000 miles.

I looked at the side of my LIM and I saw coolent leak (small one) and my car had warranty on it so I took it back to the dealer to fix it. If you see a leak on the LIM I would get it fixed before it goes. Or it will cost you $$$$

Snow + SC/T front lip = Snowplow... hence why I park it :)

is there a loss of performance when it goes? im not burning antifreeze hence no white smoke out of the exhaust, and there seems to be no antifreeze in the oil.
i guess that leaves visually inspecting the lower intake for signs of coolant?

Mines is the same way.
Im currently at 31K Miles on my Gt, I am hoping mine goes before my warranty is up at 50k. And that both my window motors go out :) Mine went at 120k on my old Se and its now my sisters, everytime she comes over I check for it, now at 152k no probs so far.
