i drive a 00 GT1. i have the Delco amp in my trunk. im running 2-12s and a mono amp for the subs. i want to have more highs when i open my trunk, so i cut the speaker leads that come off the rear 6x9s and attach more speaker cable to those to power my 6.5s in boxes. i leave the bass speaker leads attached to the 6x9s. so all i did was cut the connector off of each and wire the new speakers up to these wires: yellow (left +), black (left -), light blue (right +) and dark blue (right -).
now i start driving around, and everything sounds the way it did before i cut the wires. but then for some reason, i get this extremely loud crackling and static noises coming from my front 4x6s. i dont know if they were just being pushed to hard in the first place since i have had the radio turned up quite a bit since i got the subs last thursday.
im running an Alpine CDA-9885. The sub level is at 10. the bass level is 0. the treble is at 3. i have the high pass filter set at 80 Hz. the parametric eq bass is at 0 at 60 Hz, and the Treble is at 3 at 15 kHz
can anyone come up with a solution to this? tomorrow im checking the front speakers to see if they are blown. im also going to reatch the speaker leads onto the stock 6x9s. basically, im going to undo everything i did. but before i do that, can anyone help me out here?
EDIT: I think it could be my tweeter, because it is a very high pitched sound. is there any way i can fix it? disconnect it? get a new one? something?
