Right now I'm replacing all my stock battery wires with new 4ga ones....So far
I've replaced my (+) positive wires fine.. one to the starter and one to the fuse box.
Right now I'm working on my (-)negative wire... the one off the battery looks like its also going to the starter block and not on the starter solinod like the positive wire does.
Is there any harm in me removing the whole starter to replace that wire? Cuz I see the wire but don't see any bolts to undo that ground.
Thanks
Richie

I know when myself and others did this mod, we didn't remove the oem wire. We just put on the new stuff.

ahh.. I got all the stock battery wiring off except for the one ground wire that goes to/around the starter area. Well I would like to have the stock one removed cuz this is gonna be a show car (if not already is) pretty soon and I don't need the look of the OEM wires around if it doesn't do anything.
Well.. I'm gonna write a how to on replacing the stock battery cables.
What you'll need:
10 ft of 4ga wire for Positive (I have a 1ft left over) Cost for me $1.5 per ft.
5 ft of 4ga wire for Ground (Perfect guess for me when I bought the wire cuz its took up all 5 ft.)
2 GM side terminal (like the ones ya use for the stereo) $3 each.
2 packs of 4ga ring terminal by tsumini(sp) with 5 rings in a pack. Cost was 16 bucks at circuit city <I dunno how I pulled that off... Most stereo shops wants like 2 bucks each for 4ga ring terminal

Replacing Positive cable:
Just use the stock wire as the wire length and crimp or solider if ya want.
1) The power cable bolt on the fuse box is 7mm or 9/32".
2.)The power cable bolt on the starter solinod is 13mm or 1/2" (tip) ..use a wrench.. also can be reached from the top .. no need to jack the car for this one.
3.)The power cable bolt on the altenator is 13mm or 1/2" Also use a use a wrench.
Replacing Negative cable:
Again use the stock cable for wire length.
1.) The bolt on the starter area ground cable <??????> .. I Can't get to it.
2.) The ground wire bolt off the fenderwall connected to the battery cable is 10mm.
3.) The ground wire bolt next to the tranny fluid cap is 15mm. (tip) need to use a deepwall socket and a swivel socket thingy along with some extenders.
Thats where all major power cables are!
Experience:
Last night - I only did the power wire to the fuse box and starter .. lefted the stock alty wire. Also did the a short ground from the batt to the fenderwell ground.
I did get a higher voltage read on the voltage gauge. But when I turned on all the accessories (lights, defroster, ac on high, push the power seat button all three way down) the voltage gauge dropped to 12.? from 14.5.
Just today - Just ran the rest of the stock cables. the wire from the power to alty. And the ground from the engine block on the side where the tranny fluid cap is to the fenderwell. except for the ground wire from the battery to starter
I turned on the car.. the volt gauge read 14.5 ..then ran all my accessories again .. and it dropped to 14.0. So not much lost. I turned on and push all the button thats drains everything at the same time.
Feel free to ask any questions.
