I'm getting ready to change the trans filter/fluid again... the first time (last year) I just replace the filter and reused the gasket.
Is it ok to keep reusing it? becuase to buy the fiter from the dealar it's like 25.00+ and the gasket looks to be just as much..
I don't want to use the cheap brand filters that the part stores sell

It shouldn't be a problem, unless it's damaged. Why are you changing the fluid so soon? it's every 60k or 65k miles.

how did you go about getting most of the bad fluid out from the torque converter?

you can't... you just drain what you can, which is 7 out of 9 quarts, and fill with new, old will get diluttted with new, that's the best you can do. that's how it's designed.

It sucks that they didn't even give us a dipstick to check the fluid with. My mom's 2002 is going on 60k, and I want to change her trans fluid and filter. How difficult of a job is it?

fairly easy. but there's no drain plug, so you have to take the pan of slowly to let it drain, , replace the filter gasket, and checking the level once your done is a pain, but it can all be done.
