Hey, i was wondering what kind of headlights i should get. I like the ones with the black housing and clear reflectors but i heard that there not that good and you can get a crappy beam pattern or something like that. Also would the HID kit from oznium plug and play? do i have to do any cutting or anything. Also how long will the HID kit/new headlights last before i have to replace them.
Here is the HID kit

Right now my stock headlights are afftecting the quality of my silverstars so bad that its hard to see at night sometimes. There all discoloreed yellow and all foggy.
Thanks so much

first of all you, you posted this thread in the wrong area. secondly, this has been covered many times. search and you will find multiple threads about this.

If you are getting HIDs, you don't need to worry about light output from the black headlights. I had just silverstars in my black headlights and I could see decently at night.
Those HIDs are plug and play, yes. As for how long they will last.... I don't know, but longer than your silverstars.

ok thanks DrFabulous i think im going to be getting the ones with the black headlights at a 6000k HID kit from oznium. 1 more question this worth getting? Will the HIDs work better with these headlights cause they have projectors. Also would i have to do any modding on these ones? Thanks so much

yes i think you'd have to do modding to make them fit. And do not put hids in those. And if you do get hids, make sure you disable your drls.

I recently bought a set on ebay (black housing with amber corners) and I regret buying them.:banghead The light pattern is really messed up even after adjusting. If you get custom lights, definately get a HID kit cuz you won't see jack with regular halogens.

I have the black/clear corner lights with silverstars and the beam pattern is fine with them. Light output is just slightly less, but I can still see fine at night. HID's would probably improve overall output with them but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe in the future. I have PIAA foglights if I really need more light that bad.

I bought mine off ebay too and they were just fine. Made by TYC, fantastic build quality, looked sharp, and the light output was pretty good, actually.

i'll be trading in for the tyc ones in the spring, my autodynasty's started to leak recently and the rubber gasket deterioriated...so replacements will be coming soon, i'll probably keep the crap ones for the winter time.

Hmm, I have the black TYC headlights and the Oznium HID kit and I actually think visibility is better than the stock housings at night. Not sure if anyone else has that combination, but I'm not complaining. I haven't had regular halogens in so long, I dont remember how the output is on them.

Also if i have to disable the DRLs where exactly do i find the wire for it? Thanks!

Locating it's very simple and I didn't take off the glove box when I did mine. I just removed the plastic cover type thing that it's above.

my lightout with the black housing clear corner one is beyond messed up.
i get darts of light shooting out at stupid angles. and if i try to adjust them to point higher they get sucked into my engine bay way too much so it looks really bad.
i would, if anything, buy them, paint the inside of your STOCK lights black, and put the clear corner lense on.

hmmm...
loooks like I either did something wrong during installation, my headlight mountings are seriously out of whack, or I set my expectations too high.
Here is the set that I bought
They are advertised as having an intense light beam concentration and such. Similar to JDM design or someting like that. I swear the black housing is sucking the light out from the bottom half of the road (gee, ins't that what black objects do???). So essentially what I have is two curved portions of light that really don't help me at all. I was hoping for stylish headlights that would also be more effective than my stockers.
I plan to post pics of what I am talking about.
I would consider getting the HID kit from Oznium, but they say that it's illegal for public road use. And yes I would get pulled over where I live for something like that.
Any imput is appreciated. My apologies to the original poster for hijacking his thread.

Considering those are the stock design and there is black where there was once chrome(in the stockers), how can you expect better light output?

yes, i am well aware of that. i was skeptical myself when i bought them, but i liked the black part and i honestly thought that it wouldn't be a big deal. one would think there would be some sort of compensation for that sort of thing during the design, but clearly i wasn't thinking enough.
my bad

The blacks worth the loss of output though. :)
Unless you wanna step it up to HIDs like said above.

here's pics of my lights. granted i didn't have a professional adjust them, but i am convinced there's something seriously wrong here.

Ok , one thing that I have noticed is that the metal piece ( aimer) sometimes shakes itself loose. Look at the metal ring around the bulb and see if the bulb is dead center or if its to one side. Your going to have to pull the bulb out and fix that part. That metal part can cuz head achs,, trust me i know.. lol
If its not that , then i dont know.....

that's a good idea. never thought to look at that part. well it is centered as far as i can see, but that's not the whole problem. the horizontal adjuster on the passenger side won't turn. what a pos!!! should have just stuck with my boring stock ones.

That's why you take the adjusters out of your stocker headlights and use them with your headlights. That's what I HAD to do, the ones that came with my headlights were crap.

^Yep, that's what I did as well.
