SD vs SC/T Hood (plus Body)

I'm debating getting the SC/T versus the SD hood. I'm very interested in having the vehicle painted with racing stripes and wondering if anyone has any suggestions on which design may or may not work better?

It looks to me like the SC/T hood spans out wider, and may lead to inconsistant stripes, while the SD hood seems more constrained. I'm hoping for the stripes to be symmetrical with the hood.

In relation to this, which of the other body kit mods are reccomended to go along with the SC/T or SD hoods. (Realizing I cant handle rediculously low clearance where I live)

SD hood looks better, IMO.


Get the SC/T spoiler, and the SC/T lip kit if you can handle the body being a little lower.

Get the SC/T Hood. are you planning on running stripes down the entire length of the car? cuz that seems to be a really old trend that i dont like seeing on cars anymore.

as for a body kit, the 2 kits im aware of are RK Sport, (http://www.rksport.com/main/catalog.asp?mdid=9) and SC/T (http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GA1005/GAEXT/Grand+Am+SC-T+Body+Kit.html)

but if you are going to have problems with ground clearance, just get the SC/T hood and the SC/T Spoiler and dont worry about a body kit.

I was thinking about starting the strips coming off of the scoop, and then extending through the back of the car....

Right now the car is silver, but I'm definitely painting the body burnt orange. (Virginia Tech) I'm debating adding chicago maroon stripes.

The SC/T seems like it goes from narrow to wide as you go up the hood. Meaning if I put a stripe on the entire crest of the scoop, the stripes would become VERY wide. (This may or may not be a cool effect)

I'd love to see what others have done w/ stripes (or paint schemes) with the SC/T or SD hoods.

Seems like the SC/T spoiler is the way to go.

IMO the SD doesnt flow with the car. The scoops just kind of sit on top. SC/T looks like its meant for the car. As far as stripes, i dont know. Since your doing it right (painting, not vinyl) have you thought about 2 tone? Orange and silver would look really good.

Indeed the SC/T Spoiler is the best.

If you are going to paint the car Burnt Orange, go with black stripes. it will look better than with maroon, IMO.

at least your going to paint the stripes on instead of vinyl. it wont crack and look like Sh!t after a while.

If you don't want to go with stripes for the SC/T hood, you can always get the accent striping for it. That's what I'm going to do. I'm not a big fan of the whole racing stripes ****, but I guess it depends on the overall look on the car. Seen some VERY ****ty setips before.

Yes they do.... Exodus there is a GA running around with one of those kits. The kit is on the car in prime and the car is green. You think they look bad in the pics, LMAF you should see it in person. I had to pull over after the kid saw my car. I could not stop laughing..

The Showoff's don't look too bad, but the rest are. I guess the Ballistic is so bad that they can't show a pic. Gotta buy it sight unseen. lol
