Ok I took off my back seat today and noticed their was something that sort of looks like a patch. I always knew it was their but today i noticed the corner was loose and a piece broke off. So im wondering what exactly is this for and would it be ok to remove completely? I attached a picture.

Nope. The catalytic converter is just about straight down from where the shifter is in the counsel.

I was thinking the same thing since they are about the only things that could cause noise from that area.

So it wouldn't really hurt anything if i removed it? The reason i am asking is because it started coming off already so if it doesn't need to be their then i will remove it all.

The same material you will found it under the rear seat as well. To reduce noise and road vibrations. Just like dynomat.

and probably insulation too or prevents any spilled materials from rusting the area, if you spill soda or somthing.
