Front speaker recommendations

One of the front speakers is going out so I'm looking for replacements. I have 2 JL 12" subwoofers that provide great bass and I listen to music like Taking Back Sunday/Angels and Airwaves, Switchfoot, etc etc etc.

So, recommendations? Thanks.

By the way, not looking for amplified speakers, don't want to do more wiring or spend more $.

well i'll start this out by saying, 4x6 speakers suck. so it doesnt matter a whole heck of a lot which ones you get. no speaker will sound as good as a 5.25 or a 6.5.

with that said there are some out there that are not bad. i'd recomend these

if your are going to replace them with 4x6s, get Infinity. Metra makes a plate that will let you use a 5.25 or 6.5 in the door. i dont have the number on hand tho.

yea man i got the infintity references 5.25s from last year (the 4 ohm models) off of ebay for like 40 bucks and i really like them. im actually amping them either today or tomorrow when i get time to install my amp.
but even off 22rms from the hu they sound pretty damn good.
oh and heres the 5.25/6.5 speaker mount: Metra 82-3300. worked like a friggin dream.....thats all i can say

I have 6.5" infinity refs in my door.
and no rear 6x9s.

some 12" KickerCVRs in the back, but hey.. it sounds a heck of a lot better than stock.
Waiting to get some money so I can get some Infinity Kappa's in the back... But need the amp for that... But I need a new HO alternator before then, and then I need to rewire the Power wiring... So... Lots of things come before 6x9s =)

Not running any rear speakers right now? How do you like it?

If you like having sound coming from all around (ie behind you and in front of you) then pick up a decent pair of 6x9s for the back.

If you like having sound just in front of you (except for the bass, of course) consider putting some effort into sealing and deadening the front doors. The lower midrange and midbass that your 6.5s are capable of may surprise you once you turn the door into a proper 'enclosure' for them to run in.

In case you're interested, here's a pic thread from when I did mine awhile back. It takes some time, and deadener is not cheap, but the results are WELL worth it. And it's a great feeling when your door speakers have the low-frequency punch that you're used to only getting from your 6x9s :) The pics in the thread are my old 6.5" Kappa components, I've since replaced them with 7" mids.
