Does anyone have any suggestions on the best interior paint to use to achieve a nice clean consistant look?
Thanks to everyone help, I think I have the whole process down. I dont think I'm going to go the route of getting an air gun (seems expensive?) so I am looking for suggestions on the type of paint to use and clear coat to use in this process.
Thanks again,
Matt

If youre looking for a glossy paint that covers, go krylon for plastics. A lot of people here seem to like that. I dont care for it as much. If you want more of a dye, go with an automotive touch up paint like duplicolor. The duplicolor gives a pretty good spray for a can. I went with the duplicolor, because i like to keep the natural texture of the plastic, but still get good coverage. Also its a bit harder to mess up since it soaks in. Just take the time to put a bunch of coats, cause it goes on like water. Also, prep well, you dont want fish eyes or peeling paint.

Looked at Krylon and it doesnt seem to have the color of orange I'm looking for. Hopefully looking to find alot of options so I have a color variety.

i also went with duplicolor auto paint and duplicolor truck and suv clearcoat. i sanded each piece till it was completely smooth then primed painted and cleared each piece. i believe i put 4 coats of color and about 6 coats of clear.

Honestly, I have NEVER put that many coats of color or clear on anything unless I'm color sanding. And that many coats of clear is just unneeded.
Rule of thumb in painting for me is as follows:
Step 1. Start out with a low grit sand paper, I start with 600 to get any paint or whatever off, usually to just rough up the surface.
Step 2. Wet sand with a 2000 grit paper until perfectly smooth.
Step 3. Clean with mineral of spirits.
Step 4. 1 coat of prime, then you wet sand the surface down with a sanding block with 2000 grit making sure everything is level, and then again clean with mineral spirits and let dry.
Step 5. 1 coat of prime, and then let sit for 24 hours to harden.
Step 6. 1 light coat of color, then let sit for 4 hours in no less than 30% humidity with a temp of no less than 90 degrees F.
Step 7. Final coat of color and let it set in no less than 10% humidity and no less than 100 degrees F.
I have never had any problems with anything that I have painted since I adopted this technique. Before that I had always had problems with my paint wanting to "fish eye". If you put too many coats of paint, you run a risk of it peeling, looking like crap, or not fitting when trying to reassemble.

I used a cheap ass primer, plastic coat color, and cheap ass clear.

I use "triple thick" clear coat by Rustoleum. Good stuff, was only $5 I think. And then I only put 1, maybe 2 coats of clear on my project. Forgot to put the clear coat in what I said above.
