Hey guys, I have seen that most of you have the gen IV blower so this may be hard to get some help on.....but who has the gen III?
I happen to have this and it is mounted on my 2000 3100 chevy malibu. when it is warmed up, the car runs well but there is a few issues.
first off, i had to turn the idle on the stock tb all the way up because when the engine was cold, it would not idle. obviously when it does warm, the idle is high (about 1800) due to this.
second off, the check engine light is on. i haven't had it scanned in a few weeks to see if anything else has come up but last time it was a "Engine oil pressure switch circuit." any ideas?
but i gotta say....i love having the blower, especially on your average chick car

Is this thing tuned or did you just slap the blower on and call it a day?

Did you fix the oil pressure issue to clear the code?
And how did you turn the idle up on the TB? Depending on what you did, that could possibly set a code as well.

Yep. If you turned the throttle stop to hold the plate open and bring the idle up, the pcm will see it's idling too high and try to bring the idle back down by closing the IAC valve. If it can't close it enough to bring the idle down, it will set a code. I'd set the throttle stop back where it should be, and figure out why it won't idle right.

Next step: TUNING

no tuning yet, i have no cash at the moment.
i would turn the idle down, but then it will not idle as stated when it is cold....and i need to drive this so for now the solution is turning up the idle. yes this throws a code....but i obviously know the solution to that.
what i am trying to find out from some of you knowledgable people is why it may be running rough when it is cold vs. not when it is warm. any ideas on the oil pressure code?

no tuning yet
problem = solved

Agreed. You are asking for major trouble without tuning.

Now that I think about it, yes... I had similar trouble when I installed my new cam. This was long after I had the blower on the car, and the problems may or may not have had anything to do with the blower OR the cam, but most likely the added drag on the engine from either one would only magnify the problem.
Anyway, the O2 sensor was getting fouled up and not switching fast enough, but it wouldn't always throw an O2 sensor code. It would idle crappy when cold and the revs would jump up and down because the IAC was trying to keep the engine running when it would go lean. After the engine warmed up and the pcm had time to adjust the long term fuel trims the idle would stabilize. Before that though the idle would drop as low as 400 rpm and sometimes stall the engine, and that low of rpm would cause low oil pressure and make an oil pressure code show up in the pcm. The question for you I guess is... is your idle behaving in a similar way?
Try replacing the O2 sensor. And then if you want to fix the problem that fouled it in the first place get it tuned! Better to cough up the money and do it 'cause it will just keep costing you money and aggravation.

any idea how much a tune costs? and how would i go about finding a place to tune it? would this be on a dyno or no
o2 sensor--price?

You will have to buy DHP powertuner or HPtuners and do it yourself. It takes a considerable amount of time to do. Unless someone in your area has either of those two tuners, its pretty much up to you

do you have a link to either of these? i would be totally up to tuning myself as long as i knew what to tune. any idea on price for any of these units?
this plugs into the diagnostic port correct?

I would get a hold of Ryan at Sinister Performance (http://www.gmtuners.com). He tuned my Grand Am and it runs sweet as ever. I'm trying to throw together a video, but I'm really busy and the weather is crappy.

Im glad to see it finally made it onto a car. It looks like it made it in there without all the problems Josh and I had with it.

oh no, believe me....there were some complications. it took a solid month to get the car running somewhat ok. i still need to get it tuned and need to get some new 02 sensors
Is that the m45...I think?
