I searched but couldnt find an answer. Im looking for the stock MAF size on the GA. I want to upgrde to an LS1 MAF. Also, will this set an SES light by changing to a sensor that was not meant for the car?

what would i need to do to make this worth buying where i will see gains?

Ported top-end, full exhaust (including headers), a hotter cam, and tuning.

at least ported manifolds and exhaust if not exhaust, ported manifolds and heads and maybe even cam...

there will be be slight gains up top with doing this at your current mod level but you would likely lose enough low end to make it not worth doing

some will argue its not needed unless you are boosted.. i of course do not agree with this train of thought

EDIT- damn Matt beat me to it ;)

LA1 MAF (stock) is 67mm through the center and 78mm at the outlet. The LS1 MAF is 85mm through the center and 100mm at the outlet. The plugs are the same so they are easily interchangeable as long as you get the right diameter intake piping and couplers. As stated though, you must have the MAF table changed in the pcm or it won't run properly, and with your level of mods switching to a bigger MAF won't really do anything for you. You are far far from maxing out the stock one.

To find out, tap a vacuum gauge test port right after and downstream from your present MAF. Go to WOT and note how much vacuum is read. For me, if you read 2 or more inches Hg vacuum it would be worth it, although that's still a fairly low per cent loss.

Edit: You also have to factor in how much of that loss is due to the air filter, so to test the MAF sensor only, bypass the air filter.
