Ecotec oil change

I am going to give my new GA its first oil change soon.,, I have an 02 Grand AM, 5-speed, with the Ecotec 2.2. I have seen the oil filters for the Ecotec... it looks like the paper element only (no canister) Is there any special procedure I need to do for the oil change? How do I remove / replace the filter?
