Well, Ford has a 2004 Lightning Concept, and I can say that Chevy can probably never catch up to this. SVT has a 6 speed manual, a 500 hp/500 ft-lb 5.4L Supercharged and intercooled v8. On top of that, SVT came up with a design that had the ford cooling a susbstance (I think a liquid) to be run through the intercooler for 20% cooler air for 35-40 second bursts giving an added 50 hp when needed !!! It is a green button you press on the dash apparently. Here are the pics:

Well, I think it could use a little less holes in it lol, but I still like the design, and of course, the powerplant!!
Edit: I guess only the side holes really annoy me because exhaust thru the side of the body is kinda nice because it lets the body get lower to the ground, and the scoops in the hood are functional, and I always like functionality

I like the engine and hood. But the body just doesn't do it for me. It might grow on me, but I doubt it.

I dunno, I used to hate the 99+ square look the Mustang had, now I think it is maybe the best looking Mustang ever. For some reason, square looking performance designs take a while to grow on me, but once they do I really like them.

anyone wonder why FORD always has to use a blower to catch up/beat with everyone?

does it matter? If they use a blower and make more power than chevy or dodge for the same price...more power to em ;)
imo, verry nice powerplant...decent looks (very agressive, which it deserves for being a 500hp 500ft/lb. torque beast) and a pretty neat lookin interior. If only i believed it had reliability (which i will never trust for with) I would jump on it....well....if i had enough money :)

I love how they chromed out and simplified the engine bay. I mean the engine is pretty much the only thing in there with a binch of different parts, unlike designs where wires are all over the place and crap is everywhere getting in the way. I also like the interior layout, but the colors could be nicer. It is starting to seem less and less like a pickup tho because of where the shifter is and its layout, but I bet it'll still haul stuff to the dump and pull a trailer nice. If this engine was in the SVT Cobra, watch out GM.
OK, the supercooler stuff is a coolant that is run theough the IC when u want it after it is cooled to about 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

Its the actual A/C running over the reg I/C Thats how it can cool the air charge down because its - 200 F. And the actual 3rd Gen
L will have either a monsterous Racing gear box or a R 150 5 speed Auto. I have not got any new info on the Tranny. The Engine is a toned down version thats in the GT coming out.
Go to SVT Performance.com and look under 2nd Gen Lightning forum. To get more Info.:boogie:

Yes, but accorrding to the Ford press release, it will actually be coolant that goes thru the IC because it would be hard to just run enough A/C through it to get it cooler since air has much much worse heat transfer properties than fluid. Running fluid through channels in the IC would make more sense because the coolant would get very cold and will cool the IC instantly just about.
I'd imagine that is why noone has ever tried to cool air going into the engine b4 with the A/C, takes too much air and it can't provide it for the car and the IC at the same time. I have contemplated that idea b4 and I already deemed it too stupid, so I doubt SVT would go with it, but if they do, I must be an idiot.

And one more thing the S/C is going to be a Whipple not a Roots.

Whipple is centrifugal right?? But the thing I always wondered about was why does the whipple look like a roots if it is centrifugal instead of looking like a turbo or the vortech or RSM?? Or am I getting something wrong here?? What is the difference between the Whipple and the roots?? Whipple is the name of the charger or is is a totally different type?

whipple is twin screw

Ok heres the differance.
The Roots type is a pass off design one screw passes the charge off to the other screw and down in the manafold.
Whipple uses both screws to force the air charge down into manafold so it moves twice as much air as a simalar roots
CI vs CI in displacement.:)

Oh ok, cool, thanx for clearing that up. This guy with a L67 put a whipple on it and other L67 people called him an idiot because it didn't give him more boost or whatever...maybe he did run that 11.9 in the 1/4 w/ nitrous...
