View Full Version : Dynamat vs. Spray bed liner?
I was talking to a car audio gut about putting dynamat in my car and he suggested spray on bed liner. Will this work the same or should I stick with a sound dampaning product? thanks guys.

actually i was told in a recent thread about some dampener that uses butyl or something rather than the asphalt that dynamat uses..holds up longer and is lighter.
somebody had a link to something like 50sqft for $99 or something..run a search

If you're looking for a spray-on solution, I would go with one of the liquid-based deadeners as opposed to spray-on bed liner. I don't think bed liner will add the mass needed to properly deaden your car.
A good mat has more effectiveness per dollar than most liquid deadeners.
Raammat BXT (http://www.raammat.com) is an excellent product, and the owner is a stand-up guy. It's butyl-based, so it won't fall off after a year or two like the asphalt stuff does.
Also, pass on any product that brags about being 'light'. Sound deadening is about adding mass to the surface of the panel, so 'light' actually means you'll need to use more to get the same result. Not good.
Excellent read on sound deadening here:

What are you planning on deadening? I bought 1 62ft^3 roll of Raammat and was able to heavily deaden my doors (2-3 layers on the inner door skin, 1-2 on the door panel itself) and another layer in the trunk.

Just to make it a little quieter, after getting the frame pulled it seems to be louder
