Didn't get any specs with it, only pictures. Very awesome design though on that supercharger and intercooler.

Wow...I have been waiting for these. Finally good to see some GM pics. I think everyone is still holding their breath for the numbers...I am.

I'm not to thrilled with that intercooler setup(too many 90* bends for airflow) but it would be better than nothing.

I wonder if they'll all be blue, or if they'll be painted to match the car... Especially since they are all hand built anyways, and only like... 1000 are being made.

Thats more of a problem for your old ram air setup than it is for this. I'd like to see some numbers for this bad boy.

i dont think these will be handmade, thats a big reason they are getting rid of the LS7 soon.
the LS8 will also have a similar setup with the s/c and the intercooler, itll just be less powerful, and is rumored to be used in the new camaro and CTS-V.

Really cool that they won't have a huge IC sticking out the front, but like someone said, all the 90 degree bends will hinder power. I'm sure they will come out with an aftermarket mod to fix all that though.

that is pretty slick though how the mount it all in one small unit. not to burst the baloon but how much more power does a vette need? you already prbly have enough issues with traction with the LS7, does it need more power still? i mean once your going its prbly a "holy ****" type of car with this LS9

You couldn't be more wrong. There is a good amount of HP that could be freed from rearranging the IC placement.

Looks like they just modified the setup from the XLR-V to work on the corvette

Actually you couldn't, because obviously you have no idea WTF you're looking at as far as where the SC is, what the intercooler is, and how the runners are laid out.

Its not that hard to figure out the airflow path across the intercooler plates. But you just keep trying to start **** Bob.

The complete intake piping isn't even connected, so how the fock do you know how efficient it is? That's where your bottleneck will be. The SC is directly injecting the air it is displacing right into the intercooler. From their it will be sent out to the TB. There's no piping in the pics I saw, so how the hell can you sit and make your righteous comment?

The complete engine is in the pic including all the piping from the TB to the intake manifold. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the SC is pumping air into the center of the intercooler, across the plates and then down into the intake manifold ports. In effect making the air do a big U turn through sharp 90* bends when it comes out of the SC. If you knew anything about airflow you would know why this system could be better.

After having driven a Z06 with the LS7, there really are no traction issues with normal to spirited driving; the 13inch wide tires in the back compensate for a lot, and all the on-board computer systems in place will keep most people from killing themselves. However, deactivate those controls, and you're right- 500hp is more than enough to fock yourself pretty good. It took me about 3 hours in the car to get the balls to go WOT, and even when I did it was very momentary. Most of those cars go to people who know what they are doing with the power (usually because of the price tag), and the ZR1's will be no exception to that rule.

ahh true true, computer stuff prbly helps a ton. i bet its incredible to drive one of these things

Can't really wait to see what this motor does. I ain't going to lie, I don't know much about superchargers other than they force air in via pulley, so I can't comment on the restrictions. I just know it looks cool. Hopefully this thread doesn't get locked.
Is this motor directly injected?

Andy and Bob- This is a thread about the LS9, not who does what work on their car or who has more technical knowledge of the best/most efficient supercharger... take it to PM's and leave my thread alone with your childish debate on who has the biggest e-pen0rs, por favor. kthnxbai.

feel free to debate the engines shortcomings, but lets keep it civil.

I want to say it is; the CTS was the first, and my dad told me that they were going to start putting it on high end engines, since the cost can be buried better there (Caddies, Vette, Denali) and then as the technology becomes cheaper they'll put it on lower end models. No one wants to buy a Cobalt with DI if it costs 30grand right now.

The new Cobalt SS has DI, as well as the Solstice GXP and Sky Redline.

Thats a good point they are all the same motor too. I noticed the redline and GXp are getting kinda pricey...what will the HHR SS/Colbalt SS cost?
