It's long but worth the read. I'm just not sure how long it will stay up after Dec.

Seafoam, find it and use it. Works great for every kind of engine or fuel system.

that was random.. lol. and seafoam isnt something you should be using on a regular basis. it can actually wreck an engine if it is over used. it dries up your gaskets and seals, and causes more friction in the block after too many uses in a short period of time. its alcohol based. try sticking alcohol on your finger and see what happens, then imagine that happening to your engine.. your skin will have just about the same reaction as many of the seals in your engine.

Got any proof to back that up? What do you think ethanol blended gasoline is? E10, or 10% ethanol is really 10% alcohol.

i've heard the same thing, and it makes sense. i guess since the government regulates and contracted that corn ALCOHOL be put into gasoline, it's okay for our cars right? since all fuel lines are metal, E10 shouldn't hurt them, only any rubber seals that it comes into contact with---it WILL dry them out and crack them over time. you should only use seafoam about once a year.

so who really thinks they dont have to change their oil every 3k-4k miles? i do it every 3k because **** its 20bucks and if theres a chance at making it last longer **** why not? at 20bucks every 2months or so im not gonna go broke, but if i blow a piston ring or racing bearing guess what i got 2days of work and about 300bucks down. thats 2 days i could be making 300 bucks + what i paid for in parts. im down 600 bucks. make sense?

it makes sense, but if it only costs you 20$, then you should buy a better filter and oil...
i get advance auto parts coupons for a k/n oil filter and 5 quarts of castrol edge for 25$. i know it will last longer than 3k miles.

but it's your money/car

I only run Mobil 1 in my car and its had that run in it since the first engine break in oil change. I will never run anything different in that car.

lol @ Mobil 1

It's not even a full synthetic.

Amsoil, Castrol Edge and Penzoil Platinum > everything else

lol If my car has no problems from running the same oil since new why would I change that? My car runs fine I'm not going to change to another oil that claims to be full synthetic. I trust Mobil 1 and I am NOT going to change from that brand of oil.

You're paying +$7 for a quart of oil that ISN'T synthetic. lol

Amsoil is the best oil money can buy.

agree with amsoil's the best. i've heard amazing stories. but you pay $$$$ for what you get

about mobil 1, the LS engines, and other manufacturers too, say "use nothing but mobil 1 in this engine"
the oil fill cap actually says mobil 1 on it. WHY ???

Have always been told none of the additives really work but have used Seafoam once in a while with no issues

Odd question but why does my 3400 say 5w20 on the cap instead of 5w30 like every other 3400 I've seen? BTW I work for Valvoline so I see a lot of cars.

This is interesting that this comes up lol. I just put some Lucas Oil Oil stabilizer in after I changed my oil today.

Mine says SAE 5w30, Your cap must have been replaced or something..

Might have got switched out for an oil cap for another car somehow? Many of them are interchangeable. For instance, I'm using a cap from a C5 'vette that was 5w30 Mobil1.

Don't add anything to your oil. It's a gimmic. It doesn't do anything, and may actually hurt your oil. All you need to use is good oil of the proper weight, and that's it.

i think you are wasting your money if you are changing your motor oil at even 5k. unless you have a high performance motor and running it hard, on a normal motor under normal driving conditions you should change oil at 10k. i have stuck with this on all my cars i have owned. 1988 Chrysler Daytona with 65,000k had it for 8years ended up with 550,000k. 2001 ford tarsus had 25,000k when i bought it, i had it 9years ended with 630,000k now i have a 2002 olds alero and i'm changing the oil at 12,000k, but now i am using synth oil. just my 2 cents
