My gas tank gauge has been acting up recently such as it will run normally until it gets to E, but then as soon as I shut it off and turn it on again it will go back up to Full without even getting gas. Is there some simple fix or does it involve replacing the sensor or something in the gas tank???

You may have one of the original sensors in the tank. The sulfur in the gas would screw up the sensor. They replaced them in '01 or '02. That's what my guess would be.

so is it something that involves a lot of time and effort to fix, like pulling down the gas tank???

See thread: Fuel Level Sensor (http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14550)

Grreen99GT,

You can 1st try using a bottle of complete 'Fuel System Cleaner' that you add to the gasoline tank.

If that doesn't work, you either:
- drop the gasoline tank & replace parts on the fuel level sending sensor with a replacement kit
or
- fill-up your gasoline tank every time & zero your odometer.
Re-fill when you go a certain distance on your odometer.

I have used this before on my GA with sucess:

I bought it from NAPA.

But it didn't work on my mom's Sunfire GT, after we bought it used.
(I guess it was too long after the gasoline gauge stopped working properly.)

I've had the same problem with mine since I got my car and I def. didn't feel like dropping the tank, so I've gotten used to it.

Try Techron Concentrate Plus. It took several doses of Techron and a few months but my gauge returned to normal.

If you normally buy the same brand of gas try changing for a few weeks.
